Does anyone have any experence with these AMI Stubbie Antennas? I bought one of them with flames and it doesn't work worth crap. I got the fifteen inch but their ads say that any size works great, bull pucky.

I bought a short antenna and ended up not liking the fit where it screwed into the base. So, I cut the factory antenna. It was very simple. Just pop off the ball at the top, cut to length, grind down the new tip to fit the ball, press the ball back on and presto short factory antenna. Great price too...free.

I bought a 3 inch antenna off ebay a while back and have had no problems with reception when listening to any of the FM stations. Plus I love the fact that when I go through the carwash, I don't have to remove this one or worry about it breaking off in there.

I think that I need to send this one back and try another, if this many people are having good luck then something is wrong with mine or I did something wrong. Now that I think about it I think that I'll try screwing the stud in first and then the antenna, maybe I didn't have it turned in enough.
How dark are the black flames on yours Hummbob? Mine are kind of grey and see through, in fact they hardly stand out at all. All of the photos that I have seen have shown them to be fairly dark black.

Yeah, mine are PRETTY BLACK, even after a year and a half!! I kinda expected them to discolour alot, but they still look pretty dark!! Like the picture I posted!

Do you happen to remember where you got yours? I just purchased a 15" from antenna-x, and while the unit is OK, I have added an aftermarket chrome antenna mount cover, and the base of the 15" will not fit in the hole. From your photo, it looks like the one you have will fit.
Thanks

http://www.antennax.com/ Got mine here. I don't know bout no flammin antennae ideas?? This works for me in the woods it will not whack the apillar or windshield and gets good reception, but no flames. What's with that?? I don't go thru car washes but I would still remove it.
