So the the light bulb died in my Volume button on my steering wheel and bought a new one for like $23.  But how do I get the old one out?  Has anyone else done this?

Thanks,
Eric

you need to pull the steering wheel to do it, at least that's what the shop manual says.  i've never done it, and wouldn't do it myself anyway.  i wouldn't want the airbag popping in my face - probably costs more than the labor to replace the controls.

I've done it on older cars and it wasn't a fun journey. With airbags and all the wiring that comes in them now, I would pay someone but if you are feeling adventurist you can always go to your nearest auto parts store and get a steering wheel puller and then a case of beer for when you're done.

no need to pull out the wheel.
Just changed out mine all you need to do is.
1. pry out the seek/vol assembly with a flathead screwdriver.
2. once it is out from the wheel enough to grab with your fingers, wiggle it out till you can just see the back of the assembly.( there is a plug behind the assembly and there is not much wire slack).
3. if you can get a pinky finger behind the assembly, push in the tab on the plug and wiggle the assembly free.
4. plug in the new assembly and slide it back into the socket.

THATS IT!! Total job took me 10 min.

Damn. That leaves you a lot more time to knock off that case of beer.
