STAY AWAY ! !

from slickcars.com, part of GNU Industries in Ft. Lauderdale FL.  major ripoffs on shipping and quality.  ordered a spoiler for the wife's Camry (since she got rid of the eclipse, she can't bear to think of it as "family sedan").  paid for 2nd day air shipping.  got an email on the 18th saying it was shipped.  called on the 21st to ask where it was.  told that the "shipped" word they used means they billed my credit card, not that the item was actually shipped.  finally got it on the 27th, but it was still covered in dust from sanding, not primed like the website stated.  probably saved me some money by not having to re-prime it, but still not what was advertised.  called to bitch and ask for a refund on shipping.  customer service got belligerent and told me to go away, i was gonna get nothing and like it.  filed a complaint with the BBB and FL attorney general's office.  so far they've told the BBB to go away, since they have no enforcement rights anyway.  they suck, and i'll do everything possible to be as much a pain in their ass as i possibly can.  bastards . . . . .

So besides being a place to bitch to about companies, what is the point of having a BBB if they can't enforce anything or do anything about it?

if anyone wants to look into the company, there's a record of poor service now at the BBB.  that's really all they can do

One thing to keep in mind about the BBB is they are funded by their members who are, you guessed it, the businesses. The business owner pays thier dues to have the abiltiy to claim membership, and in a sense, buys the right to not be harrassed by the BBB or given bad marks from upset customers reguardless how unethical the business runs. Businesses who don't buy a membership get bad marks, but the consumer needs to check that first, and then all that tells you is that somebody was upset for some reason and sent in a nastygram. It doesn't tell you what the complaint was or what proceedings were done to try to rectify the situation.
