I know a guy with an H2 and has a gobi on the roof with his spare.... any ways his wife was driving it and drive it into a parking garage.... lets just say it didnt fit.

The stock roof rails will support the spare. You just have to move them a little closer together. Use good 0l' American ingenuity to tie it down securely. Motorcycle bunji-cords won't do it.
The trick is getting the dang thing up there and then back down. I think the spare weighs about 75 lbs.

Gobi isn't the only rack maker....
you can also consider getting one of those steps that fit into your receiver hitch.... and you can take it out anytime.

I saw that defender rack and I like it alot. I plan on mounting my tire up on my roof as well with the defender rack and just using a small ratchet strap to hold it down. Does anyone besides Gobi make a nice ladder?
