After leaning back-and-forth between Manik and OEM grill guards, I've settled on the SMA one. LOL

Just found out that SMA is no more. Does anyone know if the quality is good enough to consider purchasing one without a warranty? They're still in stock at several places so I'll need to buy very soon.

I know a couple people who have them and they are very solid.

i bought a sma guard a few weeks ago. i loke the look but, (and isn't there always a but) it was not welded right. it rubbed the hood on the drivers side. so i know a person who works for the tool room in my factory, and had him basically make a shim. looks great now. even though the hassle iw would still go through it again...

Looks good. Now I know how mine would look with the SMA.

BTW, my OEM guard had a similar problem. It sits closer to the grill on one side. So its not just an SMA issue.

Get the SMA well made and strong and the look speaks for it self .Also use the shims.

Where did you find the black hood handles? All I ever see are the chrome ones.

Yes I'm ok and so with the driver of the Honda. It was a double turn lane and we were both turning left, I was in the inside lane and she suppose to turn into her lane but instead she took my lane. Heck I almost didn't feel the impact.....lol

Thanks everyone for the information. It's the SMA guard for me too then.

I like it because of it's unique "Hummer" look and the fact that it has proven itselt in battle. Thanks Green for doing such a complete test!

Just placed the order. Thanks everone for the help!

In this case, my procrastination payed of big time too. The SMA H3 guard just went on sale today at Teaka so the cost is now down in the OEM / Manik price point range. They also told me that another outfit has bought out the SMA product line. This is good because spare parts will not be an issue in the future.

If you've been considering this piece too, now's the time to buy.

Okay, got back from vacation and the bar was sitting on the loading dock at work ready to go! Brought it home (had to tie the rear hatch closed because it wouldn't fit in the back, a good sign). Installed it last night in about 1/2 hour with the help of my two sons and it looks great!

No shim issues at all, just bolted it up and it's perfectly spaced.

There are two driving lamp tabs already welded on the bar, Great!

I'm thinking 6" lamps should look and work good. Any suggestions for the best brand and model lamp that I should consider? I want really bright.

Thanks.

The rep at Teakatoys told me that someone had purchased the product line and tooling but didn't tell me who. I was only after the grill guard so I didn't press him further.

now thats funny!! Sounds like my decision making process....lmao

As far as the lights go, it all depends on what your budget is. If you want the best, there are HID off-road lights that go for $6-800 a pair...but good lord are they bright!! I've had all of em at one time or another, whats your price range?

Around $200 more or less for kit. I think I'll also have to visit the dealer to pick up the OEM Hummer light switch to keep everything clean in the interior too.

Due to the super SMA sale at Teaka, there's plenty of cash left in the budget. My concern with going too high on the lights is that they'll likely vanish in some parking lot somewhere.

Does anyone have picture of yellow H3 with black SMA grill guard?

pick up the OEM switch

They do not have them for a h3 go to a automotive store and they have some nice ones that will fit in the little circle on the dash.
I said forget running wires threw the dash and hook it up to my highbeem swith.
