Roof Marker Lights (New Version?)

When I was buying my H3 in early August, I wanted the Roof Marker Lights but decided on dropping them after my Hummer came with a sunroof. My Wife wanted me to keep the cost down and warned me ahead of time not to buy one with the sunroof but it was the only Birch White base model available. Honestly.....I really had no choice!

Well I found this GM Parts dealer that carries the Marker Lights and it states that they replace Model #17803066. Does anyone know if these are the newer version?
http://www.gmaccessories-direct.com/product_info.php?cPath=27_144_145&products_id=3774 They seem to be cheaper than what my Dealer quoted me. I think he said they were $695.00. That may have been installed? I really like the look of the Marker lights (also would like red ones on the rear too).

Those may be the upgraded version, it's hard to tell unless you cross reference the part numbers to see if that other number is the old style. The price is cheaper because the company you provided a link for sells stuff at wholesale, basically a price the dealer would pay. The cost your dealer quoted you is just for the part. When I bought and had mine installed the total bill was somewhere near a grand because of labor.

do they make any red one for the rear ?

Linus Gump, I guess I should send them an email and ask to be sure. If I find anything out, I will post back here.
MyH3hummer, no, not that I know of. I think it wouldn't be that hard to install your own set like on the GOBI Roof Rack thread. They really look sharp!

I got real excited when I saw this and I wrote my dealer to get mine replaced. Unfortunatly it looks like this is not the fix. The following is the reply back from the dealer:
"Mr. Crank,
Although I became excited when I thought that you found information that I
did not have, I researched and found that the part number that you quote in
your email is the same part that has been quarantined (see message from GM
below). I searched further and found that there is no new information
available from Hummer to date.
We will be in touch when a fix is available.
Subject: Quarantine Request H3 Accessories Roof-Mounted Marker Lamps -
keywords accessories accessory lights windshield #PIT4021B - (09/15/2006)
Models: 2006 Hummer H3
This PI has been revised to reflect a new fix is coming, This PI has been
revised to change when the revised part should be available. please discard
PIT4021A.
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the
symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
There is a wind noise from the roof mounted Marker Lamps or Off Road Lamps.
This may also sound like it is coming from the top of the windshield area.
Recommendation/Instructions:
Effective immediately, please quarantine all inventory of the H3 Accessories
Roof-Mounted Marker Lamp Package (P/N 19156090, P/N 17803066, P/N 12499109).
Although a Service Repair Kit was released in November 2005, it has proven
over time to be insufficient as a long term solution to eliminate the wind
noise associated with this product. A more robust fix has been identified
and a "revised" Service Repair Kit will be released in November 2006 for
product currently in the field. In addition, the design and manufacturing
process for this lamp package will be revised to permanently eliminate the
wind noise condition.
Follow-up communications will be issued once this repair kit is released.
A Stop Order is in place for RPA orders associated with this product and all
ACO orders are currently being written to backorder.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each
step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step,
the remaining steps do not need to be performed."
I'll keep everyone in the loop as soon as they tell me.

crank, the PN listed on your dealer doesn't match the PN listed on this item. I had contacted the web site I posted and they told me that it is the latest version of these Roof Marker lights and had sold a few sets with no problems so far. The old version is on your dealers list (P/N#17803066) and this new part number is (P/N#19156090)
Here is the email I received:
Thank you for your inquiry, These roof marker lamps are the most current
offerings from GM. Unfortunately, i cannot tell if there are any recalls
on this particular product (P/N#19156090). We have sold several and are yet to have a
problem with them. Thanks and have a great day.
Ryan
www.gmaccessories-direct.com I was hoping it would be the newer version but see that your dealer said it will be sometime in November. Is this a November release of the repair kit and the lights or just when the repair kit is available? Maybe the new light sets are restocked? I will have to check with Hummer and get back.

I guess that meant all three P/N's.
I'm hoping to get the new light bar soon or at least a fix.
I went out and bought a wrench to tighten the light bar when ever it made noise. It was easier than taking it back every couple weeks. I did tighten the bar about a month ago and its good so far. I think I got lucky this time. Some how... Some people say they caulked a bead across the front gap. Some say they taped the gap. I don't know what is best. I didn't do either. I didn't want the chance of messing my warrenty.
Good Luck with it. I feel your pain....
Keep us in the loop. If I hear anything, I'll let everyone know.
TNX...

Creation Composites is working on a rear piece with lights, but it will take some time. These things aren't easy to design and build as seen from the front lights.

crank, thanks for your reply. I see I missed the first set of numbers from your dealer (Roof-Mounted Marker Lamp Package (P/N 19156090, P/N 17803066, P/N 12499109), DUH
I guess I can wait till November and would like to get a set for the back as Linus mentioned, as that would be better than trying to mount a set on the rear as I was trying to figure out the best way to do that.
I did sent off a email to Hummer and hope they can give some more info on them. If I hear anything I will post back.

The picture looks exactly like the ones I have on my H3..... what is the problem with the marker lights?

Supposedly, they make a whistling sound at high speeds from what I hear. I emailed the website I posted (GM Accessories) and they seemed to have changed the stock # from 19156090 to 12499109 right after? That last # was the first version. I think they have a bunch of older models they may want to get rid of by just my speculation. I am waiting on my dealer to let me know when they are the improved version before I buy a set.

Hey, what if you installed a front set of amber lights the same way as you did on the rear? Then you would get away with the problem that the original lights have. That would require a set of nice looking lights though.
I thought of doing that but I'm going to put on the Off-road lights instead of the markers lights and then I'm going to add the amber LED light to the base of the off road light bar. I will put three on the base between the two lights then I will but one on each side of corners of the existing trim. I will be using 100% Window silicon to reduce wind noise. It's quite simple to fix wind noise.

Z, that sounds like a plan!

This way you you get both driving lights and marker lights! I may have to think about that also. The silicone will do the trick. I have used 3M brand for a lot of things and it holds up great.
Thanks for the tips!

Well, after sending an email to Hummer, I finally heard back through my dealer where I bought my H3. They (Hummer) passed on the info I was interested in buying a set of the marker lights. I was informed, as Crank mentioned, that the new improved version will be available in November. The service manager also wanted to know if I wanted to be put on a list to have them installed when they are released as there is a number of people already on it. I will now have to think this over as "Z" had a good idea about mounting a set of custom lights to the light bar and that would be a very cool idea. I am going to have to look around for some marker lights and then decide.

Did your Hummer dealer give you an idea of how much everything would cost for the lights and the install ????
Thanks in advance.
Davyo
H3, I found those LED lights at Wally World for about $8 each. I just wish they had some white LEDs.

Davyo, the service manager told me it would be $695.00. I am hoping that this is installed but doubt it.
