Rear Parking Sensors

Has anyone installed rear parking sensors on their SUT? There seem to be 2 basic types, the sensors installed on the bumpers, and those imbedded in a license plate. My first concern with the bumper sensors is that they wil give an incorrect distance because the spare tire sticks out about another 16" from the bumper. My concern with the license plate bumpers is first, that they might not work very well because they are bunched together, and secondly, how would I wire it since the plate is attached to the tire which is attached to the swinging mount. Any suggestions?

that was about 10 minutes after i got it, it didn't have time to get dirty yet.
