Rear license plate

For those of you who go off road, do you experience the rear license plate getting bent up on tight departure areas? Mine is bent up so much that if I dont take it off to go wheeling it may break off somewhere. I am considering having a new bumber made that will retain the stock departure angle, but protect the license plate better and have two tow hooks instead of just the one. I'm also thinking of incorporating the tow hitch into it as well.

My plate gets folded in half whenever I go through the car wash. It looks like somebody neatly rolled it up. I have a post wash ritual...put the mirrors back, bend the license plate back, go to the attendant and have them fetch my wheel center caps that dont stay on.

My plate got bent up at car washes as well. I put a nice heavy duty Harley frame over the plate and have not had any other problems.

I used to have a nice metal frame ring and lense, until I went off road. It is sitting somewhere out in the woods in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. I dont seem to have any problem with car washes though.
