Question on '06 - '07 H3's...

Since my quest for a Hummer, I have had my father and sister now interested in an H3. Sister could afford an 06 possibly an 07. So what are the biggest differences between an 06 and 07 H3? Should she consider 07's only?

The 07's are slightly revised basically. The engine was increased from 3.5 liters to 3.7 (a/b 20 extra horses). The 07's have the window switches further up on the door i believe (my 07 has fine switches, but i've heard complaints on the 06s) and i think the 07's have headlights as Daytime running lights as opposed to the parking lights on 06's. That's all the differences i can think of...i'd love mine (07 H3 adventure) but i can't say on the 6s.

thats pretty much it,the window switches are probably the biggest improvement,as the ones in my 06 are kinda far back on the door to me

The window switch move was halfway through the 07 year - my early 07 has the switches far back too. The engine is the biggest difference.

The 07 3.7L "offers a substantial 22-horsepower increase and 17 lb.-ft. more torque than the previous five-cylinder" 3.5L engine. According to a GM press release.

in my opinion the switches are not a big deal i love my 06 hummer it has 62000 km now and very few troubles, i had the cracked roof rails, a heater core ,the horn ,and just recently a slow leak in a seal on the transfer case which will be warranty and thats it.

For interior changes it was done on the 2007 1/2 rear models, Moved the buttons forward on the left door, supposedly the Brake and Gas pedal had been moved more slightly apart, Don't know about the DTRL.
Engine Changes:
2007 Vortec 3.7L I5 VVT (LLR)

FULL DESCRIPTIONS OF NEW OR CHANGED FEATURES
INCREASED DISPLACEMENT AND POWER OUTPUT
To increase displacement from 3.5 liters to 3.7 liters, the bore was enlarged from 93.0 mm to 95.5 mm. The increased displacement contributes to an increase in both horsepower and torque (see specifications). The compression ratio remains an efficiently high 10.0:1.
LARGER INTAKE VALVES
To optimize the greater volume of intake charge allowed by the increased displacement, the intake valves for each cylinder have been increased in diameter from 37 mm to 38.7 mm.
LARGER EXHAUST VALVES
To allow better flow of exhaust, the exhaust valves have been enlarged from 30.5 mm to 33.5 mm.
VALVE LIFT AND DURATION OPTIMIZED
Camshaft lobe profiles have been changed to optimize the lift and open/closed duration of the larger intake and exhaust valves for best efficiency and performance.

The biggest differences I have noticed between our 06 we had and my 07 are the window switches, the 3.7 motor, and warranty. Can't say that I have noticed anything else. The only difference I have notice between the 07 and 08 are that the mid front grill has an X design on the 08 and O design on the 07.

I would say go with an 07 for the warrenty, HP, and the fact that many 06 models had a cylinder head issue. But I don't really care for the engine oil life monitoring system. It can't tell the difference between regular and synthetic.
