its true.  i know the man.  the girlfriend said she'd walk the aisle but he had to ditch the big truck and get something more germane, and he agreed.

comments?  thoughts?  reasons that he should be emasculated?

Well if he did that, she already has his gonads in a vise...

Without knowing ALL the facts, I would question the motivation/considerations of one partner giving that kind of an ultimatum.  It really starts things off on the wrong foot and will probably be a precursor to feelings of resentment later on.  But if he agreed to it, then i guess he figures she's worth it, so, to each his own.  I kinda stinks though IMO.

I got a crisp Benjamin stating that marriage won't last more than a few years .. ain't healthy going in to it with a bunch of ultimatums and that's not what marriage is anyways .. it's a life long equal compromise on the things you like and don't like ... but I'll be d@mned if anyone tells me what to drive and what to spend my money I've earned on ... as long as the joint responsibilities are taken care of first of course!!!!

I personally would've asked her to pack up and be out by Thursday ... and leave my shirts and CD's alone!  As long as my name is the only one on both title and loan on my vehicles .. they are my decisions, my expenditures, MY VEHICLES!  If you pay half of it, you have HALF a say so in the matter, just like me .. then we can compromise ... that's as far as I extend myself vehicle wise ...and pretty much everything else that ain't nobody elses business LOL!  And no, I wouldn't throw anyone out on their azz on behalf of my H2 ... but I would for the principle aspect of that whole bit ...

I should probably add my wife and I are probably an exception to the rule .. we don't have a joint economy and we haven't for probably 8 years now .... hence why earnings, how they are spent, and vehicles are of no issue to us anymore LOL!

i'm going to give him shyte for at least 3 years.  I think it was more like "ok, but choose a hobby because between all of these you're always gone", and the truck went before the bow and arrow and the race car.

The ultimatum I got was, this is may house and I was to live by her rules and if I did not like it that there was the door...as I started walking to the door the next ultimatum was if I walked out the door not to come back...I walked out the door and it did not hit me in the ars on the way out and I had no intentions of returninjg and I did not...My final words as walked out the door were that the patch of hair was not worth all the agravation...Now I have my truck, money, and although things are not perfect I am definenatly happier.

Ultimatums such as that before marriage are a true sign that one needs to run very very FAST-IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION!  The bottom line is we all know what our perspective mates do before marriage...if one does not like it...then get out!  Because chances are that trip down the aisle will not make them get any better!  I would have never ever inflicted any ultimatums on my hubby, and still don't - and he would have taken very unkindly to them at all if I did.
(Besides, I have always found that a little dose of one's own medicine often works wonders - simply put...paybacks)

Very well put and I do agree with ya too ... sometimes a healthy dose of payback is enough to get some eyes open and force people in to rethinking their initial approach :-)
If I was that guy I'd put an ultimatun on her azz to sacrifice something just on principle ... when/if she says no I'd just go for the ol' classic "Well babe, the door swings both ways ... " and keep the truck :)

Good for you bro!  Can't say I would've done it differently with the exception of a slightly more colorfull departing message LOL!

Exactly ZYNE and when I say paybacks...I don't mean vengeful acts or throwing in one's face "well you did this so I'm going to do this," but simply some of the same kind of treatment such as you just mentioned...what's good for one..is good for the other!

Uh huh .. been in a marriage that required a lot of that ... but after we separated and ultimately got back together ... think she got a clue .. if nothing else the fact that it will be 10 years for us in July should be an indicator that some people actually DO learn from their mistakes LOL!

I think he should be put out of his misery, or re-think his choice in women. I know I would never even think of asking my guy to give up his truck...... that's sacreligious...it's unthinkable....
