Have any of you noticed regular members who have not been around or who have told you that they have not been able to log in over the last 18 hours or so?  If so, I bet they have comcast digital cable.

It seems that the good people at comcast have decided to block the servers that provide for this site.  Thats right, comcast is deciding what sites their users can and cant view.  The reason for this is due to the high number of emails that get sent out (PM notifications, subscription emails, etc) and they consider it a spam site.

The only thing that can be done right now is for comcast users to call the comcast office and demand that the company stops censoring sites...if you dont have comcast, but have a relative that does, have them call and demand that they are allowed their internet freedom.  Otherwise, this becomes one company setting precedent, and once one company gets away with it...the sky is the limit before we cant access the sites that we all love.

Any questions, feel free to PM me.  I have found a way around this ban (i was unable to get onto ANY of the forums since late last night) by using an AOL browser, but this is ridiculous.

I have comcast digital high speed internet and I have no problem signing on...now the speed of the site and having to reload every page three times becuase it keeps stalling is another thing. If comcast blocks me from this site it will be time to switch to verizon fiber optic internet...or break out the ole Commador 64 and plug'er into the phone jack

I have Comcast and have no problem accessing the forum also.  I'm in outlying Chicago.  We have to find the TOS aggreement for Comcast and see if it specifically states they have the right to block any or all sites if they deem necessary.  If that is not in the TOS, then it is most likely a violation of the service contract in which case they would either have to open the domains back up or face legal action, none of which realistically would probably happen.  When you use AOL, it usually funnels the internet traffic through the VPN it creates through it's servers using their browser.  That's complete BS.  If I have time I'll try to find out more, but I have a feeling they have the right to do whatever they want and unless someone files a class-action lawsuit, there won't be anything going on.

Fortunately ( I think ) I am on Cox. I negotiate with mainly Cox, Time Warner and Quest for our developments. Usually these guys have wide latitude in how they manage their systems. Calls to the awarding agency in your area ( PUC, city, etc ) might get a quicker, more responsive reaction.

I have ALWAYS had problem with getting this web site to load fast on my computer, it take about 1 minute per web page, BUT I am on a DoD network and I think hummerforums.com is using an ad program or some other program running in the backround that is on our block list....  Its kind of a pain so I dont come here that much....

The issue came and went appx 2.5 months ago.  Play with your viewing preference settings and see which you like the best, some load faster than others.

When I try to reply to a post, a pop up reads "CONTAINS NO DATA" Or ERROR 404. Whats that about? I can read posts, just can''t reply or post new ones.

Issues X3!  The site used to work fine until you started spamming it with Ads, spy cookies and other crap like Web Bugs.  Maybe you should consider getting back to the basics because this site is getting lame!  Look what happens when you make a word with an apostrophe. Ie... won''t.  See, your software is totally hosed.

Patrick has absolutely nothing to do with ads, etc. It is the company who owns the site(s) that is doing it. Patrick is not the owner and does not make money off of this site. His job is to Admin and monitor all of the associated sites owned by this company.

This site is a part of 50+ forums all owned and operated by the same company.

You are entitled to your opinions. I''m tired of the problems as well, but when the new server/forum software upgrade is completed, this will all be resolved. Until then unfortunately it is what it is.

RealJeep, You are exactly right, the software is screwed up.  It requires an upgrade an it is proving to be a lengthy procees.  I am sorry for the issues, to all of the members, but we are workiing on it.

HG, you work for a business and looked into starting your own. Do you think this lengthy process would be tolerated by your company or would you have tolerated it while operating your own?
This site is basically here to make money. The forum is just the bait to get us to the commercials. I''m not bashing it, it''s just what happens.
These are not new problems, I may not be a computer programmer but it just makes way to much sense to connect the ads with the problems. The site is overloaded with crap and it is effecting the performance of it. It''s costing you (the company) money in the process. Even if everyone stayed around they are visiting or posting as much so that equals less sales to the sponsors, how long will they tolerate this and keep paying their monthly bill to be a sponsor?
I loved this place and have met a lot of great people through it. But someone like me that comes on here to enjoy themselves, not go shopping isn''t going to sit here and wait on the higher ups to get their act together. You can focus primarily on the "bigger" sites, but if you neglect the "little guy" you are going to pay. There are a lot more little guys then big ones. Do the math.

BTW, none of my little rant was meant to be directed at either HG or Patrick (other than the beginning question obviously). It was meant for the owners of the site to see it, if they care enough to check in. Maybe they can see how we feel about it.

I apologize to Mike and Patrick if it came across to you the wrong way.
