i am a graphic designer, so i just use photoshop and create my own .jpegs.  then save them on a CD and the Unit lets you custom all the screens. .very cool..

all you have to do is put a jpeg on a CD?

look in your manual there are size requirements. and you can see the instructions on how to do it...  but yes. . it's that easy..

Do you guys have the Monsoon system or the base stereo system in your 3s?
TonyH3

i had the base unit.  i think it's a bit eaiser to upgrade.

Yeah, no doubt it's easier.  I have a Pioneer AVH-P5700DVD and I tried to install it into my 3 with the Monsoon system and I couldn't find an adapter that doesn't sound like crap. Ended up ust buying a factory nav unit, but I really love that D3....

I have the Kenwood DNX7200T in the 3 together with the monsoon. I don't know how they made it but in some way it must be possible to bring the aftermarket systems together with the monsoon wether it is pioneer or kenwood or something else...

Very nice!

I just bought what appears to be the exact same dash unit and a steering wheel control interface for my 05 H2...The Geek Squad wants $300 to install,I thought that was a little high so I decided to do it myself. Now I'm scratching my head! I used to install all my own audio a few yrs ago and it was easy. Apparently things are a little more complicated now...lol. Did you do the install yourself? If so,what kind of factory harness adaptor did you use? I picked one up thats supposed to fit all GM products. The plug fits but the pins inside the plug dont line up with the factory harness.....Thanks in advance,,,,I'm not ready to go back to the Geek Squad...lol

Well I don't have an H2 but just did the install on my H3 and I can tell you I did alot more than scratch my head. After I finally figured out the problem (I was sold the wrong wiring harness) It went pretty smoothly. Getting the correct harness is the key, actually the hardest part of the entire install was finding out EXACTLY what the correct harness is. I finally drove my truck down to Circuit City and went to their install dept and asked them which is how I found out I had spent 2 days trying to do the install with the wrong harness.
Good luck, and it's gonna be well worth it when everything is done!

Thanks for the response. Everyone I've talked to says the stereo wire harness is the same on the H2 and H3. I think I should've talked to someone who actually wants to help instead of trying to get info from someone who wants to do the job for me....before I found this forum everyone was telling me I had to have it done by a dealer or Geek Squad.

UPDATE!!

The Pioneer is installed,Onstar works and I cant believe how easy it was when I finally got the right harness kit. After I got the right kit it only took an hr to install and re-assemble dash and center console. Still have to install the SWC interface-doesnt look too difficult.
Bonzaiii, I had the same thing happen to me-only it happened to me twice! Yup,Best Buy sold me the wrong harness twice so I'm done with them as far as accessories and tech support go. They have awesome deals on Infinity speakers right now so I still shop there...lol. Anyways,I got the harness kit at Circuit City. Their website is very user-friendly, it allows you to search for vehicle-specific accessories and even shows nearby stores who have it in stock. I also found their tech guys are more inclined to offer tips to the do-it-yourself guy.

I replaced all my bose speakers with Infinity speakers and added a 10" 200 amp sub to the cargo area. All I can say is WOW! What a difference! I love the sound I'm getting!

When I told Best Buy the problems I was having with the harness they just told me to cut off the RCA jacks and splice the wires, well needless to say that didn't work either.
Glad to hear you got everything working, sounds like one sweet system you got going there!

Just the thought of cutting off RCA jacks makes my teeth hurt!
The Geeks made several ridicoulus suggestions to me, I refused to follow them and am glad I didn't. They wanted me to abandon the SWC's and forget about Onstar. Amazing......
I could've saved myself a lot of grieve and aggravation if I had spent more time doing research in this forum. It wasn't untill you mentioned Circuit City that I went to their website, figured out what I needed within 5 minutes and an hr later I walked out of the store with right harness!  Thanks a bunch! If anyone has questions regarding H2 dash unit upgrades I'd be happy to share details of my experience-I took lots of notes.
I will post pictures this weekend when I get my digital back from the ex.......

i made all mine in Photoshop. you can design your own then save them to a CD.  and the Poineer lets you save them as different screens..  very cool option.
