I did Silver Lake when I was at The Hummer Club Homecoming event back in 2006 and it was absolutely awesome. If any of the forum members can get there it will definately be worthwhile and a great off road trip.

Doc? Yes? No? Know?
Some other member(s) would like to know as well. If you don't think it's going to happen, I'll delete the thread for now and we can create a new one sometime later.
You are the mastermind of this one since we are all strangers to it.

OK ladies and gents; we have two tentative dates to choose from, being June 21rst or July 12th.
Let's start discussing this so we can all be on the same page.

We are considering these dates to keep some distance from the 4th of July Holiday.
The 4th just crowds up the place, and books up all the rooms and camp sites.
Any one in IL, IN, OH and MI surrounding area should consider this one.
Family friendly, loads of fun stuff to do, light houses, beaches, restaurants, cool shops, ice cream, go carts, bumper boats, fishing and some great wheeling from grandma easy to all out wild and crazy.

Come join us for some fun and relaxation.

Light Houses? Did you say, Light Houses
I have light house framed pictures, light house calendars, and just tell me they have light house tours.....
How many light houses we talkin' about here?

July 12 would be the only one good for me. I have to work the Fallen Hero's Memorial Concert June 21.

I think I have to go to Minnisota that week for work, either that week or the week after, but it should be Mon and Tues only, so that would probably work for me as well.

Lookin like July 12 is the lean to.
Yes HG.............Light Houses! To the immediate south, a 10 minute slow drive down some narrow west MI side roads is Little Sable. It was closed to tours for several
years, but they did some work on the stairs, and reopened it last year (2-3 days per week).
Then, to the north about an hour (30 mins. Eway, and about the same state roads, the last 15 minutes is beautiful West MI coast......all dunes, open to foot use by Ludington, in the Ludington State Park there is Big Sable. Open to tours 6 days a week. You can bicycle or walk to it by trail, or two miles of beach!
The view looking south from Big Sable..............side o the mitten you might say.

Chicago to the right side 140 some miles.

Lighthouses are so cool.
You got that right! The architecture amazes me for some reason. People don't realize the force those things withstand.
Doc; is that last pic of the beach actually driveable? Can you just go whereever you want?

I stop at every lighthouse that is open to the public wherever I go. The history is always interesting and there are always incredible views from them

I'll have to take a pic of the lighthouse oil painting we have in our front living room. It's awesome. I also have a few more pictures I haven't put up yet since I've moved.
The sad part is I have never been in one. That would be a very memorable experience if I could actually go up in one that weekend. Doc would live in infamy in my mind as the mastermind of the excursion

The last pic is the beach/dunes at the Ludington State park from Big Sable light house. Gave me the heebee jeebees just being up there.
HG.........foot traffic only all along the beach, bicycles on the trail. You could drive your Hummer there, but you wouldn't look good in STRIPES!
LOOK Mike....look!

I have only wheeled in deep sand one time and it was a lot of fun. For those of you sitting on the fence it will be a lot of fun and you will regret missing it if you don't go.
