Mine are actually pretty reasonable and we have great schools... so it's still a joke to me where I live... ($4400).. I pay almost as much in Flood and homeowners insurance
NOW... go up the road 30 miles and have property worth 1/3/-1/4 what mine is worth and they are paying $7000-$12,000... that's crap

I believe that the property taxes include school taxes in NJ. Still, it is crazy what you have to pay. Been there done that and don't miss it.

I'm paying just as much for my little piece of Jersey. I pay $4500 now my sister who lives in a townhouse 1 county over pays twice as much for her place which is valued at half of my property.

Everything is expensive in California but Prop. 13 keeps property tax rates relatively low. The killer is the high property values. I have looked at moving several times and the reset on my taxes from the higher tax vauation of a new purchase always makes me rethink it. I pay enough in taxes as it is.

We get taxed 3 times a year. School tax, then town tax, then village tax.... nearly tax you to death... everything goes up EXCEPT wages....There are alot of houses for sale up here, folks are being taxed right out of their homes

Taxes are on of the main reasons that many people are selling there homes especially in NJ and NY since they increased taxes a few years back

I'm happy my tax dollars are not wasted here though. Like I said, great schools, good police, good fire, street sweepers still operate, leaf vacuums still operate, garbage, recycling...

Well with the police thing you are right( especially in wharton) but the police is getting really annoying where I live....NJ has the lowest illiteracy rate in america

Taxes are high in my part of NJ and we get crap for it...this morning was the FIRST cardboard pickup day since CHRISTMAS!!!! We had our spare bedroom filled wall to wall with cardboard just waiting for today to come....terrible!! Our garbage will take a max of 5 bags per pickup per house....I have an infant and a 3 year old...we get 5 bags filled up in a night....I leave a case of beer out for the garbage men once in awhile, so I get away with putting out more than I am supposed to...but for 10 grand a year in taxes I shouldn't have to bribe the damn sanitation workers into taking my garbage!!

and it is just the opposite here... we put out whatever trash we want and as long as it isn't what they consider something they have to send the flatbed out for they take it.
I tried to get them to take a piece of guttering and they wanted me to cut it up.... so by the time I went to all of that work I just took it to work to the dumpster.
.... and they wouldn't take some broken drywall once.

I remember putting my sofa out and I decided to put a 6 pack of corona on it to see if the garbage would take it....at 6 oclock they skipped the other houses and just picked up my sofa, now thats what i call service
