Hello.
I am looking at purchasing a H2 in the immediate future...hopefully within the week.
I am having a tough time figuring a few things out...hopefully you guys can shed some
light on these issues and help me with my decision.

First of all...what are the differences between a base model H2 and one with the LUX package?
Basically I can afford a new 2006 H2...base model...with the rebates being offered now.

Or I can buy a used 2005 H2 LUX loaded with DVD, NAV, etc. for about the same cost.

I like nav, the dvd system, but they are not necessary. I am really wondering what else I will
give up - if I go with the base model H2.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hey and WELCOME!!

There is not alot of difference and to be honest, IMO the aftermarket Navs available are WAY better than the OEM. I have the Eclipse in my Rig and the wife has the OEM in the Escalade. We BOTH agree that mine is alot better. More functions, plus it ALSO plays DVD's. So you can always do that LATER!!

I guess it's WHAT YOU WANT that matters. The one thing I couldn't do without is Heated Leather Seats, but that's just me Plus I'd HAVE TO HAVE the Ebony Interior. Everything else can be purchased later(and chepaer on eBay)!!

LUXURY PACKAGE: (includes AM/FM radio with 6-disc CD changer, heated leather front seats, chrome appearance package, tubular assist steps, and custom carpet floor mats)

INDIVIDUAL OPTIONS:

3rd Row Seat $500

There is another thing to consider on your purchase. The warranty on the 05 wil be 3 years or 36k whichever comes first. The 06 is 4 years or 50k whichever comes first. If the 05 is used you could get it hummer certified to extend the warranty. I think it would be 6 years or 100k whichever comes first but I could be wrong on that so don't quote me. Steve

Well, I was also a forum member prior to becoming an actual H2 owner, but today, is actually my one day Hummer H2 Anniversary...thank you very much.

I got a great deal on a fully-loaded '06 Hummer ('lease return' in excellent condition) H2 which came OEM with the luxury package and 'then some'; i.e., chrome wrap-around front brush guard, chrome tubular taillamp guards, six overhead off-road lights mounted on an extra roof rack crossbar assembly, massive power skyroof, navigation w/ XM satellite radio, U-Connect/Hands-free satellite phone system (via On-star), Blue Tooth garage door/security gate opener, 6-disc CD changer, built-in DVD/MP3/JPEG player with monitors in the headrests, two RF-controlled cordless headphones, FM frequency modulator control unit (allows the DVD/MP3 player volume to be played through the H2's Bose system), front/rear heated leather seats in ebony leather, third-row seating, swing-away spare tire carrier, rocker guard rails plus additional chrome tubular assist rails/steps, chrome package w/ chrome wheels, tinted windows, etc. The H2 drives like a 'dream' and best of all, vehicle insurance on this vehicle is actually $70 less than the '98 Corvette that it replaced.

BTW, HummBob is correct about the heated leather ebony seats. They're really a 'required' option, especially considering the fact that they also come equipped with two separate adjustment controls...one just to relieve back tension. From what I understand, all of these options come directly from Hummer and nothing was an aftermarket add-on...except for the locking fuel compartment door which I had them add today.

Although I initially didn't care if my H2 came with navigation, as well as all of the other goodies, I'm now in fact glad that I decided to wait until a better deal came along. If I had not, I would've paid the same price for an '05 without the extras...just a couple of weeks ago. The above photo was actually taken from my dealer's ad which included my H2, but I should have some better photos sometime this weekend that I'll post. Although the color appears to be a cross between a green and a brown, it's actually called Desert Sand...a unique looking color compared to most of the Hummers I've seen. Good luck with your decision jobenshain.

Nice looking truck - you have there. I really like that color.

I decided on a new - 06 - black - SUT - 1SA model - with the tan leather interior.

I think I got a great deal...but I have to drive to Salt Lake City, UT (about 340 miles from where I live)
to pick it up.

Should have it tommorow!! I will try to post some photos this weekend.

jobenshain...

Congrats on your deal too. Have a safe trip to Salt Lake City and a safe/fun return trip home. I'm sure that the return trip will be even more enjoyable.

Also, thanks Dennis...and yes, I am most definitely a proud man.

Hey and WELCOME!!

There is not alot of difference and to be honest, IMO the aftermarket Navs available are WAY better than the OEM. I have the Eclipse in my Rig and the wife has the OEM in the Escalade. We BOTH agree that mine is alot better. More functions, plus it ALSO plays DVD's....

Hey Bob

Just wondering how the Eclipse fits in the OEM head unit spot? Is it flush or do you need adapter brackets? Or are there any gaps between the unit and the interior? Sorry if I'm asking a lot of questions and I really want the Eclipse (AVN6600); so any information is SUPER appreciated!.

The Eclipse fits in PERFECTLY!! My install guy did a SUPER job, you wouldn't know it's not OEM.

It's awesome too because I use the Eclipse for DVD's and the source is run to my visor monitor as well as my 2 headrest monitors.

I had RCA cables hooked up in the back so my Nephew can play XBOX on one monitor(or we can watch it on all) and we can watch a DVD on all the rest

Thanks Guys....I picked up my H2 SUT yesterday....(Black) and drove it back home.
It was the quickest 350 mile drive I have ever done. This truck looks awesome and
is a blast to drive. More "bells and whistles" than anything I have ever driven.

Its raining here today....but hopefully I will get some photos tommorrow.
