I was just kidding about weighing 400 pounds.
Can any of you enlighten me on how you decided on the Hummer you have? Why the H3 over the H2 or vice versa?
Still trying to decide what I'm going to get. I think the H3 would be a better daily driver,
but darn it--the H2 is just so FUN to drive!
I've seen some 03 and 04 H2s for around the top dollar price of a new H3. Although a warranty is very appealing to me as well.
Thanks,
Danielle

I knew you were kidding, so stalk away my dear

...I also believe you'd look HOT in a HUMMER too...
But Mark is right... There are a lot of good reasons for an H2 or on the other hand the H3..Your personal needs will be what dictates which one suits you best...I wish I could be of more help to you with making that decision.

my decision was easy. the H3 wasn't out when i bought mine, but i wouldn't have gone that route anyway, since part of my decision was for towing. i tote a 21' camper, and my supercharged 4runner did ok on flat ground, but hills were a problem. i imagine the H3 would have the same issues as my 4runner did. now that i've seen them side by side, here's my take on some of the benefits of the H2. only opinions, not necessarily the views of this forum or any of it's affiliates!
you mentioned you do search and rescue with your dogs, the H2 has a lot more room in back for them to be comfy. they may need help getting in, my boxer needs a hand to get up there (but she's 8 and gettin' creaky). there's an available winch in a cradle that can go into the front or rear receiver, in case you need to pull something out of the way, or do some recovery work. the H2 is a good bit heavier for that as well. Hummer makes some nice waterproof seat covers for front and rear, to keep the dogs and muddy people off the leather seats. more interior room too. and, best of all in my opinion, most of the bugs have been found and worked out of the H2, so major repair work shouldn't be necessary if you go that route. If you can find an '03 or '04 under 36k miles, you can get an extended GM warranty. i went the GMPP route and have basically a factory warranty to 93k miles, $100 deductible (it's already paid for itself)
you'd get better mileage in an H3, and could fit into some smaller spaces than an H2 could. an H3 can go just about anywhere an H2 can go, it's very capable in rough terrain (like CA highways). recovery accessories are starting to become available, so you shouldn't have to worry about that.
you mentioned you were 400lbs, so the H2 suspension may be better suited to support that (just kidding, i saw your retraction). if i had it to do over now, i think i'd still go for the H2.

Thanks for all the input guys.
Good points about the H2. Are the older H2s as nice as the new ones--meaning are some of the loaded options only available on 05 or 06 H2s? I was really impressed with some of the bells and whistles like the heated seats, remote starter, parking mirror adjustment and so forth. I know I'd be hoping for a miracle to get a loaded used H2 for an affordable price. Because statistically speaking, I don't fit into the income level that 'most' Hummer owners do.
Good point about the added suspension in the H2 as well. I'm sure that would certainly help support all of my 130 pounds.
Although I was fully expecting to load up my German Shepherds in my new Hummer; hubby has other plans. He would rather I haul a small trailer with the dogs in it to keep the Hummer clean and available for passengers. He doesn't want to spend up to 35k and then have me jake out the car with dogs. I'll agree that the dogs can be an issue with the shedding and sometimes odor too. We had an unfortunate incident with a skunk a couple months ago. That was the
only time I was thankful the dogs were in the back of my pick up. But, I told him that I PROMISED to clean the Hummer every weekend to handle the dog issue.
This topic is still open for full debate. I want to get out of my truck because I can't drive the friggin thing. So why the hell do I want to get a Hummer and then add another 6 feet to it with a trailer? Kindof pointless to me. I'm sticking to my guns...it's only a matter of time before he caves.

mine's an '03. i have the heated seats, front and rear (standard), parking mirror adjust (curb assist, standard), 6 disc CD (option, i think), but no remote start. if you're really 130, i would assume you're under 5'10" (or blow away when the wind is above 10mph), so you may want to make sure you have the steps on the side. although they're a disadvantage off road, they'll survive fire trails and basic off road trails. good luck, and post pics whatever you get. unless it's not a hummer. . . . then you're banished . . . .

Yes, I really weigh 130. I didn't care too much for the assist steps in the H3; I didn't think they were needed. But, I would certainly use them in an H2.
I'll let you guys know what I get...hopefully I will get something SOON!

This one may have less things wore out..What the mileage?..A lease is a good option, because you can walk away from the whole kit-n-kaboodle at the end....Down side, you have nothing to show for 24 months of payments of $590 which comes to $14,160 down the tubes so to speak...Something to consider...But if its mostly for your work, then I think you can recoup some of your loss on your income taxes.
Just my 1.5 cents

The picture of the Tan H2 is an 03, listed at 35k. It's got leather, and some chrome too. I don't know the mileage because it wasn't listed on the sticker today. But, it does still come with a warranty.
The Black H3 is an O6, fully loaded with all sorts of upgrades. Husband loves this one, but I'm not wild about the flashy rims and knobby tires. It's listed at 54k, but they have been sitting on it for a long time. Wonder why...
Any thoughts?

For some reason I really like the 03 H2..I think it's you...Not too flashy, yet classy and sophisticated...I'll bet you can get it for $32,000 even if you try.

..Remember, used and a bunch of new ones they are trying to sell on the lot...it is a buyer's market baby, go for it!
