I know there are a lot of Rancho haters out there but I'm posting mine anyway! I just finshed installing the kit myself. It took about six hours. I did notice that there have been changes to this kit. The leaf springs are now longer. I had to get a set of Jeep YJ boomerang shackles. The stock shackles would bottom out on my aftermarket hitch. It should not be a problem with the stock hitch. Also noticed that the bump stop extension in the rear are now smaller allowing more rear wheel travel. The kit also now comes with Rancho RS 9000XL's. One other problem I have heard was that the front tires rub on the spindles when they are aired down. That is not a problem with mine. It could be the wheels. I'm running 18x9 Moto Metal 955's with 4.52" of back spacing and Procomp Xtreme all-terrain 35x12.50x18's. It rides and handles great! I very impressed and happy. I'll post some more picture soon.

Very nice.

What other plans do you have for it?

I think I may build a ARB style bumper for it and maybe some rock sliders. I did find some in-expensive sliders that would only take a little welding to make them fit. Check them out- http://www.trail-gear.com/rocksliders.html  I think the 67" ones would be about the right size.

What was the amount of lift?
Did you drop down the front axle?
How is the artciulation?

What was the amount of lift?  Rancho states 4" in the front. I measured the drop brackets and they are 4.25". You could crank the torsion bars up like you would with a leveling kit to around 6". I set mine at 4.75" in the front because of the extra lift caused by the rear shackle.

Did you drop down the front axle?  Yes

How is the artciulation?  I was testing it just now during my lunch break on our loading dock. There is a dramatic increase in the rear. The rear seems to work very well! The front seems a little better then stock.

What made you choose the Rancho as opposed to the Tuff Country/Rough Country ?

1. Rough country is still not availble.

2. Tuff country does not have lateral struts and it also does not reposition the torsion bars. I did not like the front bump stops. Also it comes with add-a-leafs, Full leaf packs are optional. All Tuff country lifts are built to be in-expensive.

3. Rancho is one of the oldest suspension companies around and have always made high quality parts. I have been lifting trucks since 1983 and have seen a lot of kits. If you looked at the rear crossmember up close you will see what I mean. It's very well built and so are all the other parts. I have abused Rancho kits for years and have never had a Rancho related failure. For a bolt-on type kit I thinks it's the best out of whats avialble for the H3.

Heres a pictures of my current project. I like to abuse things so they need to be built to take it!

Awesome job Wayne.  It's nice to have access to a shop and a wad of cash, I have but one of those :-(  Either way, someday I'm going to build a REAL bumper/brushguard and lift the H3.  If I can just figure out how to get it past the old lady....

I've just been building it in my garage. It took about a year to get my prerunner to where it's at because of the lack of cash. It may take another year just to get it drivable. I have the time I just don't have the money!
