In my country the service interval is 20000km.[12500Miles] I would jut like to know if this is not too long a waiting period
for the first oil change? As at 3500miles my oil looks dark already? I think for the extended life of my engine should I not get the engine oil change sooner?

What are others feelings on this?

I think that is a little too long.  I change my synthetic oil about every 7000 - 7500 miles.  If it was not synthetic I would lower that to 5000.  It all depends on the your driving conditions like how many miles you drive and the amount of heat or sand that is in your area.

Agreed, first change was at 3500mi and after putting synthetic I go about 7000mi between changes

Not sure what part of the world you are in TREX, but over here in the Arabian Gulf the first service is 1000KM and every 10,000KM there after. However driving conditions over here such as heat, humidity, dust and offroad use shortens the service interval to 6000KM for me.
I allways use Mobil 1 synthetic just as a personal preference.

Thanks All!!

I live in South Africa where it gets pretty hot in summer and below freezing in Winter so not sure why GMSA says that we should only change the first OIL change at 20000km!

I will change it myself soon at least then I have the peice of mind that my Engine in being better looked after than all the other Hummers here that will wait for there 20000km Fisrt Service Interval
