They just aren't the kind of vehicles you buy if gas mileage is an issue.  I'd say I spend about 5-6 bucks/day just to go back and forth to work, and probably another 80 or so every other weekend just out playin' ... It's a fun vehicle to own .. but unfortunately most fun things tend to be a bit expensive .. there's your trade off ... is it transportation or is it a "toy", I'd say the later .. shy of my old SRT-10 this is the most fun vehicle I've ever owned!!!

a tahoe has several mileage advantages if you are speaking of a new  '07 tahoe.  6 speed tranny, better aerodynamics by far than the H2, NOT full time 4 wheel drive, and lighter, plus smaller engine.  I had an '06 Escalade for a while when my truck was being diddled with at the shop, and its mileage was pretty similar to the H2s.  But i think again the '07 Escalades will be superior for the same reasons.

In summer weather I consistently got 14-something for a mix of highway/city and highway-inside-city miles.

In the winter it was 11-12, mostly short highway trips & town miles.

The mileage at 55 for a long stretch has always been 15-16+, falling as speed goes up.  I don't think i've ever gotten 15 at 75, maybe 13-14 if not bucking a strong headwind, 10 once bucking a 40mph head/crosswind at 75, which was sucky.

The prius, city, in the summer got 50's
The prius, city, in the winter got high 20's to low 30's
Highway, prius, any weather, 75mph is about 40 or a bit less (sometimes 30, sometimes 45, depends on the wind)

i think its as funny as can be.  its an easy way to start a conversation.  I need a bumper sticker on the back of my hummer that says "i brake for hybrids" and one on the prius that says "i believe nature is best experienced through the windshield of my hummer"

I get 10-11 MPG in the H2 City and 14 MPG on the Highway at 80 MPH......Flat run w/no boat in tow......

12 MPG with 24ft Wellcraft in tow.....at 70 MPH........Not that Brave.....LOL

My wife gets 14 city and  16 highway w/H3

She has never drove mine, and i don't fit in hers (H-3)

When calculating the MPG are you using the onboard computer or is it a true calculation from the pump...just curious (averaging about 10.7 per onboard computer).  Big shock to me...traded in my 2005 Chrysler 300 for this new toy...23 MPG to 10 big change.

It's the sitting and idling and the stop-n-go sh!t that eat the gas....No miles clocked to the engine run-time sucking gas.

That's why Hi-way miles are always better on mileage...Easier on mileage to maintain cruising altitude than the take-offs to get there.

Hey Dave from Down Under..here,
err Ok we've been all converted down here to ltrs / 100km for the last couple of years...so currently our 06 with about 6500kms on it cracks 18 - 20L/100 round town, but mixed with h'way she gets mid 15s/100, which i'm very pleased with as we use our truck for a lot of long weekend runs, and not much of the milk and bread town runs..

I fitted ours with 24s, and 3/5inch Deluxe drop, and corrected the speedo error [huge!!] with the Hypertech programmer, and set its fuel to 87..runs fine..didn't fiddle with limiters, shift points, firmness  etc...but she still needs more grunt out of the hole..but with my latest addition the Corsa Touring exhaust it seems to definitely have more power further up the rev range  definitiely..it really pulls harder at higher revs..just not off the line[..never has tho..might be due to hauling 3+ ton, I guess..]..I reckon mpg came back a bit after Corsa..but that gots more to do with me [family] enjoying that loud pedal !!..just sitting [Park] from idle and giving the throttle a stab causes it to BARK, stroke it a few times upto 5K and on the back off sounds like she's spitting rocks..enough to make you brake out in lather of enjoyment..causes people to come runnin..that Chevy engine sounds like she's ready to hit the speedway track..best $ spent so far [if you couldn't tell already] and Hey no drone ..how goods that..oh yeah mpg ...don't drown her in fuel on take off ..once launched momentum and light pedal applications works a treat...long tunnels with windows down won't help mpg but will allow aural enjoyment on kick down..

Regards
david
