the problem with that is that 20,000,000 americans will be empty that day, and need to fill up.  do the big price fluctuations we've seen at the pumps reflect their costs?  nope.  are tey making exorbitant profits?  yep.  but can we really do anything about it?  nope.

is my hummer more expensive to drive than my hybrid?

not really.

year round (excluding offroad miles for the hummer) the hummer got about 13 and change, the hybrid got low 40's (EPA estimate is 60, which is bunk).  So on a cost of vehicle to cost of gas basis, the hummer is as cheap as the prius.  At points in the winter, the hybrid got high 20's, while the hummer still got 12.  so well under 3x the gas mileage.

anybody driving an H2 simply can't possibly care all that much about gas prices, its not like hummbob or zyne are starving.

Seriously though, I'd LIKE to believe this NO GAS DAY will make a differance but in REALITY we NEED GAS, so the people who are LOW on the 14th will either FILL UP then or squeek by till the 16th. Either way, the oil companies will have BANNER days on both of those dates to make up the (possible) shortfall on the 15th!!

I know I won't be filling up on the 15th.......Only because I fill up EVERY SUNDAY on the way to work!!!

I never bothered to go to Snopes about that until now, but if you look at what I posted on the other thread about gas prices, I said almost the same thing as Snopes, including how the retail owner is the one that gets screwed by these ideas. It's funny how a little common sense can usually see through the crap.
