Did you get the whole kit or just the filter?

I would tend to think that the noise was aways there. Now that you took the stock filter and tube off, you can hear it.
Just a guess, as I don't have an H3. But you wouldn't have done anything to cause that.

There's nothing wrong, it's normal, they all do it.

so what's the HP gain on an H3 with Alpha engine (5.3L) with K&N filter (with or without the kit) over stock?
Also, which syntetic oil is best to be used? I think Hummer uses Mobil 1, like many auto manufacturers, but are there better one's for people living mild winter weather zones, such as MD, VA, DC, DE, NC? For example, Royal Purple? Royal Purpleās
Max ATF,
Max-Gear, and
10W30 synthetic motor oil supposedly adds 10 hp and 12 lb-ft of torque to trucks (such as 96 Chevy used as an example on their website -
http://www.royalpurple.com/sport_truck/sport_truck.html ).
According to rought estimates based on reviewing all this marketing info, an H3 Alpha might gain smth like 20hp while at the same time extending its reliability and prolonging the time between scheduled maintenance (from about 3,000 miles to 6,000).

well,im guessing the alpha will be like the checy trucks seems how it is the same engine, and the one on my 04 has huge gains,im guessing 20%,as far as oil,i like castrol synthetic blend, its better the conventioonal, but not as pricey as full synthetic, although,if you can afford the royal purple, that is by far the best IMO

Amsoil is the best synthetic oil made.
