Well DUH!!!  I'm fully aware of waht things cost irrespective of my HUMMER.  I'm just sick of Liberal turds blaming SUV driving folks for this mess.  This mess was mostly caused by greedy bankers, a tanking U.S. Dollar and our idiotic government sending all of our jobs to China.  But my HUMMER has nothing to do with it and I'd like to see a Prius pull a camper!

Hey RJ did you read my rant on this from yesterday? Sounds like the same tune. OPEC and hedge funds are the biggest reasons for the price we are currently paying for oil. If the government doesn't address the monopolistic production and speculative price manipulation the prices will just keep ratcheting up. It can be controlled. A few of these hedge fund managers need to be looking at SEC investigations and jail time and a lot of this nonsense would stop overnight.

Exactly right Rich.  Add in the Ethanol BS and you can account for food inflation.  Layer no nukes on top of that and you have the mess we find ourselves in now.

On this point... we were pissed and wanted blood for 9-11 but we don't want to pay the price it takes to do that now.  Was, and still am, willing to pay for it.  Go Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines!

Shortage is one the excuses for the higher price

Seriously, we've been here done this all before!! Gas prices jumped in the late 70's and we lived!! If people are loosing their jobs at such an alarming rate, why are the April 2008 DOL unemployment figures lower than March 2008.  Although there are pockets of higher unemployment in some areas, 96% of the US is employed!! In addition, and if you really look, you might just find that there are a percentage of these jobs going unfilled due to the lack of skilled employees, and the will to collect the maximum number of weeks of unemployment before seeking gainful employment.  Part of freedom this country enjoys is a free trade system that allows for the outrageous oil prices here in the US.  To coin an old phrase, we just need to stay the course.

Our own Government strangles the system with regulation and taxes (no new refineries since 1977, that's what almost 30 years). We get taxed to death. The problem is they don't regulate Wall Street or themselves with all of the pork they take for stupid stuff. If you want to see waste go to the official Govt. Grant Sight and see all of the money that is "given" away. AS far as the cost of gas we are still getting off cheap compared to other developed countries. I also think there trying to change our mind set about what we drive and should feel guilty about it. I don't see the Govt talk about creating a state of the art Public/mass transit system.  JMO.

We are no shorter on oil than we were 30 years ago. They are raising prices while still recording record profits. There isn't a problem other than a monopoly problem. And if the LIBERALS would allow us to drill our own oil we wouldn't have to rely on them as much or pay their prices. They have us hostage and they know it. <snip>

I'm fine with leaving our oil safe in the ground while we use up the rest of the worlds supply first.

May not be any consulation but Australia is exactly the same. Most were behind supporting you guys but slowly the tree huggers rant and rave, we have a change of Government to a bunch a gutless socialists and bingo, they rip our boys out before the job is done. To get elected they were also going to solve global warming, control petrol and fuel prices and curb inflation. So far the hot air they have generated has increased global warming, petrol and food prices continue to sky rocket and inflation is heading ever upward.

They have set up 2 million committees though so that should solve everything! I am manufacturer and have not been able to get workers with any work ethic for 4 years. Unemployment is 4% and they are the unemployable whose only skill is knowing how to work the system to continue to collect Government benefits. The last 6 people we employed over the last 3 weeks.......1 worked a day and didn't come back, 1 left before smoko (2 hours), 1 left because he wasn't allowed to have his mobile phone in the factory, 1 left becasue he wasn't allowed to have a radio in the factory so after being told twice he couldn't, he bought 1 in and turned it on, 1 left because his mate got the sack for having the radio, and 1 has lasted 3 weeks.

85% of new employees take a day off in the first week, which is really code for sack me so I can go back on benefits.

I am going to take a deep breath and have a drink!

Everytime I watch the 9/11 footage it reminds me of how furious I am that Bush and Cheaney attacked Iraq instead of going after those responsable for 9/11.

They did go after the ones behind 911, in Afghanistan. He slipped through the border into Pakistan.

Dayum....I just did a search in the "for sale" section on Craigslist in the Bayarea, entered Hummer and it just returned 215 vehicles, yikes...looks like a good time to buy a Hummer

Seriously, if you aren't too concerned about gas prices, there are a ton of deals out there.

President Cheaney and Bush sent in a fraction of the amount of troops into Afghanistan that they used to invade Iraq,,,, had they gone into Afghanistan with the same number of troops they sent into Iraq perhaps we would have caught Bin Laden and his buddies.

Personaly I think Cheaney/Bush cared more about taking Iraq than getting those that were responsable for 9/11, they have certainly invested more effort in Iraq than they ever did in Afghanistan.

And while Im on my little soap box, I really think the reason for going into Iraq was Cheaney and Bushs oil buddies in Saudi Arabia wanted Sadam Hussain gone.

Ok, Im done venting my opinions,,,, did I mention how much I love my H3.

Cheers

Of course.  The Bin Laden familly and the Bushes are long time friends.  Many many pictures of them together.  Bush Sr. and a Bin Laden were meeting at the Astoria Hotel in New York at the time the planes hit on 9/11.  Great friends.

There was no chance they were going to "find" Bin Laden.  They were instructed to start a permanant war (which is what a war on thought is).

Then they went in and stopped Hussein (who was about to start selling oil in Euros), and stole 31 trillion dollars worth of oil.  (makes you wonder of course why gas isn't $1.50 a gallon,...apparently the oil was stolen on the behalf of others, and not the American people).  For sure some people got extremely rich (or is it extremely richer?), and supposedly the closed door session of congress recently (the 5th one since 1829) wa about our economy and the dollar collapsing by September of this year.

Lot of people need to be shot for treason for sure.

Those hedge fund bass turds as 3HUMMERs states are also surely to blame also.  Remember the Dot Com blitz that ramped up stock prices on the NASDAQ to unreasonable highs?  What happened?  It corrected itself and prices tanked and sucked my 401K down the pipes with it.  All the fault of greedy hedge fund traders and other greedy bass turds.  Gas will come down in time but once again I say:  As long as we keep letting the COMMIES in China build everything we buy then 1.3 BILLION people will keep buying cars because we keep making them rich!  The more cars them and the Indians (Not native Americans) buy the more oil we can't have, the more they use the less we get them more the price goes up.  Add to that hedge fund traders trying to make a killing and we have this present disaster.  It's a mess and just for your info...GW Bush DOES NOT control a global economy, has no effect of global supply and demand, cannot control other countries economies and does NOT control the value of the U.S. Dollar!  He took his best shot, went to the Saudi's hat in hand and begged his Arab friends for some gas.  They basically said kiss their hairy Muslim Arses and sent him home.  Such is the way it is in the world today

I see people panicking about the price of $4/gallon gas and suddenly trying to get better fuel mileage recently.

I remember in 2001 when I was stationed in Germany when Operation Enduring Freedom started, gas prices were 1 euro/liter ($4/gallon) I drove a 7 series BMW. I was actually surprised that it took this long for gas to reach $4/gallon her in the US.

I knew what to expect as far as gas mileage and paying more for the comfort of driving what I wanted when I bought both my BMW and my H3.

Here's my take..when gasoline doubles in price and your income doesn't, adjustments have to be made.  Sure maybe you can afford but you had to give up something.  I can afford it but not without backing off of something else.  That's economics 101.  I eat out less and drive more conservatively.

It sounds like a few of you may even believe 911 was a Bush conspiracy and perpetrated by the administration. 31 trillion in oil stolen, more effort in Afghanistan...come on guys quit watching MSNBC and get your news from a real source. Go back and read the events of the day and bone up on some facts...I think your memories are a little fuzzy.

I was going to go there Dave, but decided that it isn't worth it. I was getting upset reading some of the dribble in this thread. I moved it here because I didn't think that it was H3 specific and fit more here.

As far as the Astoria hotel, whatever. I'm done with this thread. You guys have fun with it.

Gas is still relatively cheap and I love my H2 SUT.  I bought mine last week from a panicked owner, his loss my gain.  I doubled my gasoline bill, but who cares?  We get lots of snow where I live, the roads are terrible and I tow a trailer occasionally.  If gas gets too crazy I'll buy a beater and drive the Hummer a bit less, but not until it's at least $8/gallon!  If I could only get the prius pansies to stop flipping me off.......

Rejoice that the Prius owners are giving you birds. Like you a lot of us drive what we like and feel safe in. having been in a couple of bad wrecks I won't put my family in that type of danger. I spent a year recovering from one wreck and I have a better understanding of what happens when a big car hits a small car. I don't want to be in the small car again.
