Anyone been to the Hummer entry on Wikipedia lately? It's a work in progress (battle between jeepsters and Hummerguys)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hummer_H2 The H2 is marketed as both a general purpose vehicle and as an off-road vehicle. Jealous old-timers in Jeeps often try to degrade the Hummer, but a loyal following can attest to its prowess as evidenced in the following video
http://166.70.18.182/ebay/H2TributeForum.wmv Despite many people's misgivings about the capabilities of the H2, the vehicle is actually quite capable off road. Combined with a bountiful aftermarket accessory market, the H2 in it's stock form and it's modified form equal some of the best off road vehicles out in the market today

i think thats a pretty good description...and as for the negative opinion about offroading, i think that the issue is more that alot of higher end SUV owners dont offroad..not because their vehicle isnt capable, but more because theyre not interested...which i dont understand...

Hi Pat,
It's simple. They cost too damn much to take out in the boonies and tear the paint and mirrors off them...Seriously though, owning a formidable Offroader is like having a Dodge Viper. You and everyone else knows you can blow the doors off almost anyone one on the road, but there is no need to prove it...I had a Land Rover prior to this HUMMER and got ribbed all the time about not taking this benchmark vehicle for offloading, OFF ROAD...My reply was; When I sell it, I will get top dollar for resale and can look the new owner in the eye and tell them it was well taken care of and I did just that...Keep in mind, I'm an old fart (50) and had to work for everything I own and nothing ever came easy to me. So with that mentality, it's easier just to be glad I have a cool off-road machine but will never see the need to deliberately have to prove it.
Just my 2 cents

Well-said, Patrick!

Also, they don't understand that they have to put a lot of bucks in mods to bring their jeeps up to par with a hummer, whether H1, h2 or H3. I got nothing against jeeps; I wouldn't mind owning a Wrangler. I just don't like the comparisons with hummers.
