ronb is right. If you are going to be spending much time off road they will get destroyed if you don't remove them first. I have never installed side steps or even looked at an installation. I had the U steps on my H2 and they were easy to take off and put on but even those got to be a hassle to take off everytime I left pavement. I am not sure how you would mount them but am pretty sure you would have to drill through the factory rocker panel protection. If you buy from a Hummer aftermarket accessory outfit it should come with installation instructions

Got to do what you got to do. The H1s sit you far enough apart and are noisy enough that they aren't great family cars anyway. My kids are older. Oldest is away at college and the 16 year old never wants to go anywhere with us anyway. My wife drives the H3 and F-250 and the 1s and the Corvette are mine. I have it easy. You can always take the steps off if you want to go offroading. They will only be held on by a few bolts.
driving with the wife in the h1 is perfect -- you can say stupid shiite and she's too far away to smack you.

AND TRUE TRUE,,A FEW BOLTS FOR THE SIDE STEPS,,,,,,,,,,,,,IF ITS MORE INVOLVED THEN THEY WONT GO ON.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,.
THE BIKES ARE MY ONLY TIME TO BE ALONE, AND THERE IS SOMETHING TO BE SAID FOR PEACE AND QUIET ONCE IN A WHILE.

zach I know guys with 5-6 H1s. I am just an enthusiast at this point. I think you have to have to have four to be a collector. LOL I am constantly in the market. I bid on one or two Ebay trucks a month and check autotrader regularly. If a deal comes up I will buy it
