Wish my activities today turned out that well. All I did is go through the garage and throw out a bunch of stuff I didn't want/need anymore. Unfortunately, unlike your den, my garage doesn't look any different. Nice job, that really looks good.

Yea I payed somewhere around that, BUTTTT if I can make one suggestion it would be to create a little mini step, what I did was i glued granite tiles to a small cement block and just placed under the fire place its not even mounted to floor but it looks like it is, if you want i can send you a picture seeing as how we have the same fireplace anyway

Please do send it, I'm always working on the house. Always interested in seeing new ideas. My wife wanted stainless steel backsplash in the kitchen so I found some rolls of stainless at 84 Lumber, trimed them and glued them to the wall and went over it with a roller pin. Looks alot better than it sounds. Also did the stairway for her:

I try to do most of the stuff around here myself, kind of proud when somebody asks who we had do it and I can say, ME.

Do you have PICS??? My wife wants a SS backsplash too, but I think it may be TOO MUCH with all the Stainless appliances!!

You can get the exact size you need for the backsplash at Lowe's. I have a stainless steel range, backsplash and microwave oven/vent and it looks good.  It works well together, I'll try to post some pix later today.

rhill;   NICE!   Kudos brud.

I know the feeling you get when you do it yourself, and when you do it as well as you have.  I built my entire house, my 7th one, I'm done with moving so now I just work on improvements here and there.  It is cold today, I stacked up wood at the back door rack, and I'm gonna stoke up a nice all day fire, have a few cold ones and watch a little foot ball.  I'll be checkin in now and then.  Maybe post a fireplace pic.

I have one question because the only reason I dont get the ss is because many people say its a pain in the @ss to maintain because i gets fingerprints so easily and never really looks perfect, does anybody know what to use( as in chemicals, cleaners, waxes, etc) to prevent this?

My wife uses MRS. MEYER'S STAINLESS STEEL SPRAY. She gets it online and she says she thinks that you can get it at Target. You just spray it on and wipe it down (I know that doesn't sound right). We have 2 kids 17 & 12 so we get our fair share of fingerprint traffic, but it really isn't that bad.
