I thought the HX was the infamous H4 with a changed name, but according to the new issue of Automobile magazine I received on Saturday, the HX is the predecessor to the 2010 H4. I can scan and post the article if anybody wishes to see it.
Can anybody confirm this?

Scan and post away.............You have my curiosity piqued.

OK. I'll bring it in tomorrow and post it in the morning when I get here.
If you pass a newstand, check it out for yourself. There is a picture of a Lotus Elise-looking electric car on the cover. It's more in the beginning of the issue where they put the little blurbs for the month. You'll see a pic of the HX on the article.

Remember that the HX is just a CONCEPT not a production vehicle.
A test bed of sorts, to gage public reaction to the overall design and styling queues of what will eventually become the H4.
You can probably kiss all that billet goodbye and replace it with stamped steel.

The people who I've chatted with that actually drove the thing were told it was very close to production status. So is GM just shooting out different stories to different sources? Kinda odd. They tell those "group" of people who saw it in person one thing and actually do another.
Oh wait, this is GM. Nevermind. That explains it

I was told 90 %. But that is subject to change and will be dictated by "economy of scale" when/if this thing actually goes into production. Maybe Hummer<space>Guy can clear this up next time he logs on, as he was at Detroit and in contact with the
numerous "Powers That Be" there at GM.
I sort of relate the HX to the H4, the same way I do the original H3T concept and our current production H3.
You can sort of see what will make it to the production model and what won't.
The NEW 09 H3T is just an extension of the current H3, not born of the H3T concept from a few year ago.
Am I making any sense? (My multi-tasking skills suck today)

BTW: Thanks for offering to post the article.....All news on the Hummer front is greatly appreciated.

I am interested in seeing it as well. I am planning an H4 purchase as soon as they will take orders.

I'll tell you what. I'll hook up my old flatbed scanner when I get home and post it tonight. I had to read it three or four times before realizing that is in-fact what it said.
I'm going to write the magazine and find out if that is accurate. I BELIEVE they said something like "according to GM" but I can't be certain.
Hopefully we don't violate any copyright laws posting the article

From what we were told by the Gm Rep at that NyHC meeting is that the Hx is what to expect from the H4. Like you guys said 90% ready to roll off the line. I bet the interior will get changed for cost/profit margins. I'm still going to be looking into buying this as soon as it comes out.

Sorry I haven't been around much - busy busy busy.
90% is the number Hummer's lead designer gave me in Detroit, and made the comment that they always like to stay "within striking distance" when they're making a concept. He said that as it sits, the HX looks like what may be an Alpha version down the road.
The name "H4" will be the next Hummer out of the gate -- they released the HX concept so they could see what worked and what didn't -- as a company, they're leaving themselves some room to change things in an actual production model -- this room also keeps the competitors guessing to what will actually hit the showrooms.
I'm off to Chicago tomorrow -- let me know if you can think of anything 'the powers that be' should know about.

I just watched a preview of the autoshow, and the news anchor was driving around in the HX with the person who's setting up the display. I WILL have pictures with that thing or else
I'll probably take an "extended" lunch sometime next week to go to the auto show. I'm only 10 minutes away from it.

Of course, I forgot the magazine. Somebody on here has to read this magazine. I can't be the only half-car fanatic that reads Automobile magazine.
I'll bring it in tomorrow, as long as I don't get more of my toys for my truck

I got the magazine yesterday and was going to read it but never got around to it. I will tonight. I didn't know about that article until just now but will look for that first!
Wanted to read about the Tesla on the cover...

The Tesla is amazing. Too bad it's 100k.
They also have an interesting article about GM's new hybrid drivetrain for trucks (GM or Ford, I think GM though) that has the electric motors built into the transmission rather then the engine compartment. Half of what they talked about was foriegn to me since I don't know much about trannies, but it was definitely worth reading.
