Thanks Cliff.

Here are pictures of the camper's interior:

Those are some nice looking campers. I personally would love to have a setup similar to that but without all the seats instead an actual mini RV type thing would be great for expeditions or even long trips on the road. Not to mention if you come home with another Hummer and wife kicks you out you can sleep with the dogs in your RV H1 :)

The camper setup does look quite nice and is very spacious. I don't know who built them, but the two H1s were imported from the US with those campers.....so they were built and assembled in the US. The interior can be easily modified to be a proper camper after removing the seats. The trucks are coming to the US anyway and I will have the camper setup removed. You can have the campers if you wish, I will not be needing them anymore.

Injun, I can talk to Mike if you want those. I think you might have to come down to pick them up. Not sure shipping is an option.

Exactly.....I will keep them at Mike's place and David and I will let him know that you will be picking them up, unless you have a different idea.

My advice, if you plan to do complete "like new" restorations with authentic parts:

1) Sell off both of those trucks
2) Buy a newish truck in mint condition

It will be cheaper. The cost of new parts for the OEM interior and all the driveshafts, etc will add up so fast it will make your head spin.

If I were you, I would only fix what needs fixing for the trucks to operate properly, and live with the rest while you look for bargains on used interior parts, etc.

Good luck!

Manny, he says he can't import a vehicle over a year old into Egypt. He might not have the option of buying newer trucks. It sounds like, based on the value of the vehicles over there, that this isn't a bad route to pursue.

Exactly..........all I'm doing is buying a VIN number which has already been imported into Egypt. I will fit a new truck on an old chassis instead of buying a new 2008 H1 which will cost me around US$315k to import into Egypt.

I will never find newer H1s in Egypt. I don't think there are more than a dozen H1s in Egypt, maybe less and I already have three of them.

I had contacted GM........they still can produce and deliver a 2008 alpha H1 under special order for US$180k.

These three H1s I bought were used for desert safari tours.

I had heard AMG would do that. Wonder if I could order one, have it delivered to a friend in Canada and then import back here? Probably couldn't get past the emissions certification.

It is possible to do it for Egypt and I am sure for other countries as well.

You can import it into Canada and keep it registered there and simply keep it in the US........it should be possible.

I need to take some and post them. Haven't done it yet. It is a white first wave wagon which means it has the ebony and morocco interior.

if you do decide to do that let me know I would do that for you... and even do it one step better! I am native American so you will save on some money on taxes doing so. :)

Mike would be the best for this... as ironic as it is. Right next to Mikes shop is a world renowned upholstery and paint shop... They were the guys who did all the work on that show "Overhaul".......Not cheap by any means but uncomparable work....Not to mention Mike is right next door :)

I would like to upgrade the interior of the three H1s. New dash, new instruments, new switches, new seats, add electric windows for the front and rear,....etc. First I was thinking of installing the 2004-2006 alpha interior and Mike checked with AM General which claimed that it won't be possible and that they can't supply all the parts needed.
Does anyone have any idea how I can upgrade the interior and give it a more modern comfortable look.............something like in the pictures attached. Are there any specialized interior shops which can do the work?

Thanks.............

The interior from the first H1s through 2003 look pretty similiar to yours. There are far more parts for the older style interiors since they 14000 of those and only 1000 2004-2006. If they could build you a new 2008 Alpha for export I don't know why they can't get you interiors. Shelly, from AMG called yesterday while I was in Phoenix. I will follow up with her and whoever she directs me to and see what I can find out on Monday. ( I would do it today but left my cell phone at home with her number in it ) When do you expect the trucks to arrive in Tustin? I'll post what I can find on the interiors Monday or Tuesday.

I've heard that the fleet h1's that are still made have the old interior (and 6.5 td).

That would help explain it. Are they putting the 6.5 Td in those also Ron? So that would mean that the new fleet H1s are not Alphas.
