I've had my H3 for a week now. After driving S10's for 10 years this thing's the dogs gonads. It rides like a Rolls Royce. It dosen't even feel the pot holes on I94. Red, of course, with all the chrome the dealer had to offer.
I'll report on the real gas mileage next time I fill up.

Congrats on your new purchase!

I just got my H3 this week! Black, loaded and the dealer had just put DVD system in the headrests. My kids are at the grandparents and don't know we got it yet. I traded my Eddie Bauer '99 Expedition in and I can't believe the ride this SUV has. We have moved from an area that we had to drive 2 hours on a very twisty two lane road to shop anywhere but Walmart. My Expedition was not the best for this kind of driving. Especially if you were in somewhat of a hurry. It has so much roll in the body going around corners, and it is so heavy! The fuel mileage after I put bigger tires on last year dropped to 13 with the 5.4L V8.

I love my new rig. I was tired of being the one who drove everybody around because I could seat 8 people. Get your own car! The H3 rides so nice. Interior is nice and all reachable for a short 5'4" woman. We have always had Fords, but my husband loves my new car. It will be safe to drive this winter on snow, rain, ice, etc. Be prepared for people to stare, stop you to ask questions, and H2 owners even wave at you. I have not seen another H3 yet in my town, but I know they're out there cause the dealership got two trucks of them in and only have 4 left.

I'll post more after we go on the Hummer Happening next month. Should be fun!

1st tankful got me 15.5 mpg combined highway and cruising around town. Installed K&N air filter, 2nd tank got me 16.3 mpg. This should improve with age so to speak. Loving every minute of it.

Wow 16 miles per gal. Thats great news for Hummer. My new H2 is getting about 10.2 . Doesn't bother me too much as Its not a daily driver/commuter car for me.

My work truck. I own a small plumbing business and drive my 2004 Chevy Express Box truck around all day.
-I bought the H2 because I was sick of driving the box truck around after hours and started to really hate driving my wifes mini-van.
The GN only sees sunny Weekends and cruise nights...maybe 1200 miles a year.

It's not a GNX, those are very rare and go for big $$. My GN has some nice mods: Bigger turbo, bigger fuek pump, 3" down pipe and some nice under hood chrome pieces. Its a different car that you dont see to often in good shape.

When I bought my new H2, I sold my '67 Camaro, had too much fun playing with my H2. Already bought more than $3,000 worth of little goodies for the H2.

Guess you guys don't want to talk to a chick with a Hummer. Is it a testosterone thing?

Oh No, not at all, I guess the this thread got side tracked a bit!!
Actually i have had my H2 for about a month now and just love it. It rides to perfection. My wife has a Toyota Sienna minivan which is practical for th kids. But she loves the H2 also, we are talking about getting an H3 for her in 2 years when the Sienna Lease is up!!
How do your kids like the H3?
How did the DVD headrest application come out?

Thanks for the reply. I knew that would get someone to answer! I love the H3. The kids were so excited when they got home and saw it. I try to keep them off the video games during the week in the house but the DVD w/ the video game plug in is great for long trips. The DVD they installed came out great. It's a Vizualogic with the DVD slot right in the headrest. It just tilts out to put the DVD in. No player under the seat which would interfere with folding the seat down. I would not have bought the black one with the DVD system if they had had the H3 color I wanted (blue) but other colors were not very nice. The green is really ugly in person and the red and yellow are ticket magnets. The silver is too plain, like all other silver cars. The black looks really good with all the chrome and matches my husband's F350 crewcab.

What color is your H2? We have had a minivan and I will never buy another one. They are the worst cars for holding value. I guess if you have a lease it won't be as bad? I looked at a used H2 the dealer had, a 2004 w/ 11,000 miles. They were asking 42k for it. I paid 41k for the H3 because it had all the extra stuff on it. Dealers in other areas are marking them up 5k cause they are so new. Our local dealer is not doing that but there is no wheeling and dealing on them either. They don't have to.

Did you drive your H2 on your dealer's 4X4 course?

Thanks for answering.

Thats funny I went to buy an H3 in "superior blue' and was told GM wasn't making it. I was upset about that! And your right, my dealer was selling the H3 at full sticker. I wanted it loaded and GM wasn't giving the employee discount either!! So, to make a long story short, No discount; No color; full sticker; I ended up test driving an H2 and bought it. I wasn't planning on spending that kind of money but with the GM discount and dealer cash back I fell in love with it and loved the color.....Stealth grey metallic. So far I'm loving every minute of it.
Yes, I hate the minivan also and I'm not too impressed with Toyota either!
The H3 green color is nasty! The DVD you got sounds great! We have it in the Mini van and it does wonders for the kids on trips!!!
I wasn't able to drive on the dealer off road track, It was just finished and they were waiting for insurance approval.
I did test drive the H3 and was impressed with it. Nice tight ride! The only thing that didn't impress me IMO was a lack of power. But it was good enough.
good luck with yours and keep us posted!!!
where are you from? I'm from NH

Mike

Sounds like you had fun at the dealership. The blue color I was told is on hold until the Fall. The dealer said this usually means there is a problem with the paint at the factory. I am in Northern Idaho, near Coeur d' Alene. This should be a great car for ID and NH if your wife gets one. Maybe they will be more readily available when your lease is up.

I am getting 17 mpg around town on the first two tanks. We'll see if it improves and I am going to add a K&N filter soon. Thanks for talking and post some pictures of your H2.
