GM Touring Exhaust vs. GM Performance Exhaust

Does anyone know the difference in performance/sound between the GM Performance Exhaust (GM Part #19154703) vs. the GM Touring Exhaust (GM Part #17802015)? The Touring model seems to be more expensive but I have no clue.
Thanks...

I believe the touring is not quite as loud .. anyone else care to chime in here?

That is what I was told - also the Touring has a chrome body - having a sport performance exhaust installed on my new H3!

I am looking for one to add performance but I personally don't want the rumble or added noise so I am not sure which one to buy. Any thoughts?

Isn't the GM Perf exhaust a corsa cat back? I thought it was .. if so the sport is louder than the touring .. If you're not looking for rumble I'd say the later but I didn't think the sport was bad at all (had it for 2.5 years on a 5.7L vortec) ... throaty yes, overly loud with lots of drone .. no! On the H3 I'm not sure .. haven't heard them .. Assuming this is infact Corsa go to
www.corsaperf.com and see if they have audio clips for your vehicle.

I also heard they were made by Corsa. I had a chance to sit in a Brand new H3 with a GM Performance(sport) exhaust installed and rev it up a little- they wouldn't let me drive it. I thought it sounded real nice, not too loud. Looked underneath the truck and it looked like it was well made with nice chrome tips with the H3 logo on them.Everyone has a different take on sound and performance.GM eliminates the large muffler under the cab and keeps the one across the rear. Gibson eliminates the rear muffler. Magnaflow keeps both with their "straight thru" muffler design. It'll be hard to add performance without at least a little rumble. Most are quality products with varying degrees of "rumble" and performance and it's hard to choose without being able to hear each one. The one problem I have with GM Performance is that my dealer wanted $1250 installed. OUCH! The cheapest I saw on-line was about $900 shipped. If you bought one from a dealer I hope they gave you a good price.
We'll have to get all the H3 owners together and have a "Rumble Off".
Good Luck which whoever you choose!

1250 ?? that is INSANE !!!
I had a full turbo back 3" all stainless exhaust on my last car and it was cheaper then that GM exhaust.

The Performance Exhaust System looks pretty nice in the pic, I am wondering if it is kind of a smoked color like the pic or is it just the pic that makes it look dark.

Oh yeah I saw that and the tips aren't cheap.
I am just trying to increase HP without much noise. I like a quiet muffler, don't need to sound like a Formula One car. Just my personal taste.
And I assume with any muffler change I would have to get things retuned, is that correct?

Hey Sandy,
Yes I have seen that site, sometimes their stuff is out of stock but their prices are much cheaper than others. I really like the H3 engraved tips.
Are you installing yourself?

Damn, $1250!? That's pretty high .. think I paid $789 for the one I had on the Avalanche.
I wouldn't pay anyone to do the install on these ... if you can turn a wrench you can install these yourself. It took me all of 45 mins laying on the garage floor when I did it.
Here you go - Exhaust sound :-)

I had them install as part of the purchase deal - picked it up this afternoon - just got back in - it does rumble like my old 01 C5 Vette Vert - only has one of the tips installed - should have the other tomorrow!

Well I finally found what I was looking for:
http://www.gmaccessorydealer.com/exhaust/index.asp Then scroll down and click on H3. Loads an mp3 file comparing stock H3 exhaust vs.GM Performance exhaust vs. GM Touring exhaust.
I also went to the site ZYNE posted
http://www.corsaperf.com/hummerh3.htm The Corsa "sounds" damn near what I want. Wish I could swap out the Corsa tips though for the H3 engraved logo tips from the GM exhausts. Just adds a little sumthin', sumthin'...

That's a great find for the GM exhaust sounds. Helps give you an idea what to expect. Thanks

Real nice, I like the performance exhaust sound, but I would probably go with the touring.
But these prices for GM exhaust are really too much, especially with NO TIPS.

I agree, they are nice, but if you order on-line be carefull of pricing for tips, handling and shipping or you may surprised by your total bill.

I'd have to say my Gibson sounds real close to the GM Performance system (without the little backfires)...And it cost $360.00

My Magnaflow dual tipped exhaust doesn't give that annoying popping and backfiring when you let off the gas. I was a little worried about that and how noisy it may or may not be.
I went to Magnaflows website, they have video with audio of takeoff and ride by of the H3 with their exhaust. Yea, it sounded cool on the video but it's hard to tell what they sound like in person on in cabin.
I'm tickled with the Magnaflow system. It's got a low rumble, deeper and mellow but not loud, sounds like I wanted it to sound. Not much cabin noise, a little but not bad. My wife doesn't seem to mind it at all and said it doesn't sound much louder than the stock exhaust. So if my wife doens't find it offensive I dooubt anyone else will either.
I got mine delivered for $448.00 and mine is the stainless version. Looks like the Borla or factory GM performance exhaust too and also carries a lifetime warranty.

I put the Performance exhaust on my H3, and I like it.
The pipes are cool on the tail, and the dual exhaut tips really give the truck a sporty look. I used the dual wall, angled tips.
Sound is pretty close to what was recorded on the post above.
I used my dealer to have the install done. The truck needed to go to their delivery facilty to have the work done. GM Mechanics had to take the old cat back system off and install the new one.
Cost was about $1100 installed. I didn't think that was too bad.

Lex,
Did they retune your engine or PCM for the new exhaust?

Good question. Should they have?
Dennis

Yes..it would have made the difference from stock exhaust and the performance exhaust.
