Just to add my 2 cents I bought the new version of the 07 H3 and I have the same problem.  So you guys were right to say it is on all 07 H3s. I'll be taking mine in soon to have it fixed....fingers crossed.

My dealer here in Guam is still trying to figure it out. I gave them the part # so, we'll see what happens.

NOTHING will happen.  Yet.  That part # is useless.  Is anyone listening???
The dealer is still trying to figure it out?  There's nothing to figure out.  Tell them to quit scratching their empty heads and to call GM and get up to speed.
Any dealers that haven't figured it out yet should know soon- The current part does not fix the problem.
Do not waste your time taking it in.
OK, so you're all saying- who in the hell is this know-it-all greenshirt77.  Well, I'm just a reg guy for the most part, but I do happen to know a good bit about what's going on with this situation.  I have been dealing with it myself for the past couple of months and have discussed it in detail with my dealer's service dept, who has discussed it with GM.
Oh, and I slept at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Seriously, I'm just trying to be helpful and save others the headache of taking it in and having their clueless dealer service fail to solve the problem with an inferior part replacement and possibly f*ck something else up in the process.

Thanks for the heads up! I still haven't taken it to the dealership for servicing after getting some info about this problem.  I've been in contact with them and I'm just waiting for the replacement part to be available.

The front body mounts.......that is interesting and makes more sense to me than the steering shaft.  Seems to me if if were the steering shaft that you would feel something through the steering wheel, which I do not feel.  Does anyone remember the commercial where you strapped the mechanic under the car and took the car for a test drive so they could check it out?  Well, that is what Hummer should do....lol.  Then maybe we could get this issue resolved.

I love my H3 but I hate to take people for a ride in it....they think it is falling apart.

I doubt it's the front body mount.  I feel the tapping on the pedals, but not as loud as if the truck is breaking apart.

See, no fix yet !  As I predicted some time back.  We're on a long ride on this one.   This is the king of thing that gives GM a bad reputation for a lack of communication.   Hummer dealerships rather than standing from the crowd, they just act like nobody else.  They sell you a vehilcle and that's it.   I dislike to sound so negative, but  this is the reality........I had an 06 Honda Ridgeline, and the one time I had to take it in for service, the attention I received was superb..........GM, pay attention to the details.   All 2007 H3s are affected with  the problem.   "GM, at least send-out a letter of actknowledgement."

eh... I feel ok about the service.  the only thing that bugged me was that they kept playing dumb.  being in the northeast, the temperatures aren't _that_ hot and the clunking around doesn't happen everyday here; and once it cools off even a little bit, it stops (until you drive it around for 40 min).

when I initially brought it into my dealer, they said they couldn't reproduce it.  the 2nd time I went in, they said it's the first they've heard of it and they can't just place me on the list blah blah blah.  oh ya, and they wouldn't take a reference from here seriously either.  3rd time, I gave the PI number from this thread; and they acted surprised.  reiterated it's the first they've heard of it, but said they can't just change it out; they still have to hear it for themselves.  finally, the 4th time I went in with the clunking and the same service desk guy said to the tech "it's probably that lower steering shaft problem.  y'know, that really common one?"  the tech also told me he's probably changed out 4 or 5 of them.  so...at least now I'm on the list.

....first they've heard of it my butt.

I can't even spell words correctly when I'm this upset.  New H3, actually my second one in less than two years and I'm about to blow a gasket..........With the heat index in Houston, Tx., today the rattle/clunk noise was loud enough to dance the "Macarena."

Add me to the list.  New to the forum, wish I was posting under better circumstances.  I have less than 3000 miles on mine and this problem started a few weeks a go.  It has been around 100 degrees here in my part of the world and my H3 is doing this everytime I drive more that 5 miles.  Bottom line, does anyone know of someone who had had a repair done that fix the problem.  Thanks for all the help, at least I now have somewhere to vent.

I'm feeling it like crazy in the steering wheel.  That's where I actually feel it the most, much more so than in the pedals.
You're either exp a different issue, or yours is not as prominenet in the steering wheel- which would seem odd.

I just returned from a trip to MD.  It's approx 4-5 hrs each way, dep on traffic, etc., to where I was visiting.  The clunking was horrendous both ways as it's continued to be very hot here in the mid-atl areas.  It's just so disappointing to have a vehicle you otherwise love and want to enjoy driving, and really not be enjoying it at all. Especially on a long drive.  For me, it's blowing the whole experience of owning a vehicle like this.

UPDATE:

Ok guys, I literally just got off the phone w/ a service mgr at Sewell of Plano.  I'm posting this in the middle of my work day b/c its that important .  They called me to tell me that the new part number is IN.  They've already received/replaced 2 of them, which is all they have/had right now.  He said the part is on back order and to call in a week or two as they should have enough by then.  I did NOT get the part #, so I'm sorry for those of you that like to check the particulars out.  I know this seems to be conflicting from what others have heard, but that's straight from the horses mouth down here in Dallas.  Hope this helps!

Keep on rattlin'!

no problem, chris.  i just hope sewell has their crap together and actually do have the new redesign.  i'd hate to convey a wrong message.  anyways, that rattle has really gotten worse sense the 100 degree heat that's hit out here.  the ride gets so screwed up by that damn thumping.  good thing its a monster when off-road .

good luck and let us know what they tell you!

Add me to the list! Had it for 2 months now! Anderson Hummer in Hunt Valley, Md. says their on "backorder". It will be about a 2 month freakin wait! I cant stand driving it like this. I wish GM would hurry their azz up. First it was a bad fuel injector , now the rattles, also my paint on the top of the rear door is fading bad. I only have 6k miles on her!

The dealer I just talked to said call back in 30 day and they might have an answer.  Next he said it most likely would be more like 3 or 4 months until a fix is ready.  I do not even want to drive my H3 like this now.

Has anyone experienced this in the 08's, or just 06-07?

well, at least the dealers are being consistently inconsistent...makes this situation sting a little less...

I'll be picking up my NEW 2007-H3 this saturday. When I did the test drive I felt rattle feeling (as being disucssed in the thread). But the dealer said it's a known issue & will put me on the list & as soon as part comes in he;ll replace it. At that time I thought this is not a major issue. But after reading this forum feels like I should back out the deal and ask for different one. But again there is no gaureente that other one will not have this problem. What would you all recommend with your experience with rattle should I back out or ask for new one or go with this & wait for replacement.

Appreciate your help & suggestion.
Thanks.

Buddy, I'm in the same boat, don't know what to do.  I just can not convince myself to make the purchase with this existing problem.  And I can't get any answers on whether or not this occurs on all or just some.

I know it's hard to give up H3. I'm getting 2007 H3 (base) with auto-transmission, sunroof, trailer hitch, floor mats, chrome appearance, chrome steps and XM for $30,000. Is this a good deal to ignore rattle (assuming it gets fixed when the new designed part becomes available) ?

I would not buy one right now.  I purchase my H3 a few months ago and was not aware of this problem.  It is a fun vehicle but this issues is preventing me from enjoying it.  My advise is to wait and see how this problem works out
