It was snowing hard here yesterday and I was out driving around. The cowling at the base of the windshield, between the hood and the windshield, where the base of the wipers hook up, filled with icy snow. As the wipers moved back and forth, the passenger side wiper would compact the snow in the cutout in the cowl. As it filled up this would make the cowl flex alot. I wonder how long that will hold up until it breaks. I had to clear it out 3 times yesterday. What a stupid design.

I had the same exact thing on my 2003 Windstar. It snow finally broke the plastic louvers on the cowl piece where the wipers hid in. I tried having the dealer replace it under waranty, and they refused,..saying it wasn't covered. I told them it was a fault of the design,..and not my driving. They disagreed.
When I turned the car in they tried to charge me. I told then I disagreed and wouldn;t sign their form (very politely,..just as they had disagreed to replace it before). They never came after me of course,..a jury or mediator would be more likely to side with me I figured.
It was like a $100 part of course,..and the vehicle was mint and 9,000 miles under mileage. They were ahead of the game already.

What's snow? Not really a desert issue here.
