We just rolled in last night. Ran Hells Revenge today and we are trying to plan out tomorrow. What are your guys' favorite trails to run in your H3?

Didn't get too many good pics but here are a few...

wish the door wasn't open on the last one but no one was paying attention.

I couldn't say, but I do like the way the guy is looking at you on the dirt bike

Isn't there a "Porcupine Rim Trail" ?  We ran one about 12 years ago and I think that was the name of it.  Awesome view over a 1000' drop off.  Wish I was down there right now!

edit:  It's a 1500' drop.  Here's a link to a write up of the trail.  You need to get a picture of your H3 on "Picture Rock"!

Didn't do too much in my first trip to Moab as the Hummah wasn't quite set up yet. And I haven't done the second trip. Here's a pic from a pucker factor trail (not fond of heights) in Canyonlands Nat'l Park.

From another angle. Scenic trail, not tough.

Be sure to post pics of whatever you do run.

Fins & Things is one of my favorites.  Great views and lots of slickrock, like Hell's.  Easy enough trail to run if you're by yourself also.

Porcupine Rim has that great photo op, but other than that, it's kind of boring.  There was also a rock slide so it might be in pretty bad shape.

SevenMile Rim is another great run.  Excellent views from the rim and some decent obstacles throughout the trail.

SteelBender is fun, especially if you do the extra loop that is in the new Charles Wells book.  If you don't already have the book, GET IT!!  Plenty of places in town carry it.  I even saw it on the counter at Mavericks.

BTW, I have a ton of pics/vids from Moab on my site.  Link is in my sig.

yeah I am trying to decide between steel bender and fins and things. If I had my way I'd run them both but I am with some first timers who seem to prefer to only run one trail a day lol...I will make sure we get tons more pics especially if we only run one. I was trying to get through Hell's yesterday so we had time to run another but they decided they wanted a break so it was for nothing

Can't wait to come back down with a group of hummers! Especially cause most people look at me like I'm crazy for having that thing out here. It could be the 20" chrome wheels, but I think its the 30 day temp tag that is still on it

So far I am very impressed with the way it wheels. We haven't done anything crazy yet so everything we've done so far I was able to do in my XJ, but the h3 seems to do it way easier and definitely with a lot more comfort! My xj didn't have a locker either so I'm sure when we run into something that requires it, the h3 will out perform

Hummbob, a lot of the highways in utah should be rated trails!

Sewie, did you go to Jeep Week with Neo?

There were a bunch of us there.  Got there at the end of EJS to hang with the folks from Hummer and then stayed the following week.  The week after EJS is kind of a tradition that started on another forum.  Hummer is thinking of turning it into an official event.

Hook up with Neo.  He lives there and is always taking people out.  He doesn't post here but he's on a couple of the other forums.

I talk with you guys on one of them. Used to see some of them on Ebola but seems most people have started staying away from there. I ever get to Moab and Neo will be the first person I call. Post your pics/video when you get the chance.

Steel Bender takes ALL day and there is only like 2 or 3 fun obstacles. Poison Spider Mesa would be fun in the H3. Cliffhanger was a blast! Moab Rim would be another good one. Metal Masher also.

Did you run any of the obstacles on Hells Revenge?

Escalator?
Hells Gate?
Tip Over CHallenge?
Any of the Hot Tubs?

I was out there last week and did those in my TJ, while my wife did the smaller of the two Hot Tubs. I wish she did Hells Gate, but it was her first trail and that obstacle can look crazy scary!

I have what may be a really dumb question for alot of you guys.

When you go to MOAB or the Badlands in South Dakota, etc., can you just drive right off the road and go wherever you want, or are there designated areas for off-roading, that are public-access areas, etc.?

When we took our road trip, I saw plenty of areas in SD I would have liked to go drive through, but at the time didn't have the H3.  I'm assuming if it's NOT like Wyoming, where most of the land is fenced in with Govt. Trespassing signs, that it's OK to drive on if it's just dirt, rock and sand?

I just don't know since I've never done it.  Can you just take an exit and start driving around anywhere you want, or are all of those areas designtated as state parks?

How does that all work?  You are speaking to someone born, raised and living in the Chicago area.  The closest I have ever been to these areas is the Badland Park in Indiana

It appeared he might be running solo so I was only suggesting trails that he'd probably be okay on.  I've heard PSM and CliffHanger are great, but haven't run them yet.  Would have ran both of them this trip but the truck wasn't cooperating.     Moab Rim - did it this trip, and doubt I'll ever do it again.  I ain't down with the tippy ****.

The first time I ran Hell's we did Hell's Gate, Escalator, and the smaller hot tub.  I've never done Tip-over (see above).

The trails in Moab are pretty well marked, especially after Jeep Safari.  They are mostly on BLM land, although many cross private property in places.

In this climate of trail closures its real important to stay to established, legitimate trails and STAY ON THE TRAIL at all times.
