Hi everyone! I am new to this so I'm sorry if I ask something that has already been asked in a previous post. I have had my truck for almost 2 years and have almost 40,000 miles on it. I took my truck in last week for the check engine light. They said it was becuse there is a misfire in cyl # 3. I have to take it in this week for them to fix it. I never thought about an extended warranty should I ask my service guy about it or should I call the number that LawWyfe posted? Thank you for your help!
sjr, YOU have to be your own advocate on this, because no one else will be (your dealer, etc)! Call the number that I have posted and insist on a good extended warranty. It may take you numerous phonecalls and a long of period of time to get it accomplished, as it did for me - BUT persevere until you have it and in writing! GM/Hummer has taken care of me well, but at my insistance. Thank goodness this happened to you BEFORE your warranty ended since you are at such high mileage already. Good luck!

Thank you for all the great information. I will be calling them tomarrow. I will leave out wanting OnStar because I would rather have GM give me a better extended warranty. Thank you

Good luck. I chose to throw in another year of OnStar because it makes me feel more safe and secure when I am traveling by myself long distances which I tend to do several times a year. It also emails me a report (I have always gotten mine monthly like clockwork) and this was my 1st tipoff that I had head problems. Besides GM owns OnStar..why not ask for it?

I just had my head replaced on my 2006 H3. It has 9,125 miles. The only reason my H3 has that many miles is because of a long road trip I just went on. Close to 7,500 of highway miles. I havnt even gone over 80mph. I happened to talk to another H3 owner while at the dealer with same head problem. He told me to call GM and have my warranty extended. He said call as soon as possible because GM is going to stop offering the extended warranty very soon. That GM is losing lots of money on this. I know nothing about cars so I figured I would do some research on this before I call. This is when I came accross this forum. I have been reading these posts for 2 days now lol. I called the number Lawwyfe left instead of the one I got from a google search. I was given a case # and told they would call me back. They said there is no known Head issues with the H3. The dealer told me they have been doing lots of them and it is no big deal. That there was a problem in the machining of the head or something. A $40,000.00 car and already engine work. I dont know how major having a head replaced is but it scares me. They should do a little somehting for me no? I figured I would register and tell little bit about my story. Im not to good at explaining things lol sorry for long post.

H3Head, you arent related to FordEscort or Fordtruck are you? You all seem to have the same writing style. LOL
I find it hard to believe that they told you that there are no known head issues with the H3 and IF they did then they lied to you! Also there would not be 1100 of these parts on backorder if there was "no known head issue!" If you indeed do have this problem then yes, call every and any number you find whether it is under our info posts or you Googled it and complain and refer to your case #and insist that they make it right for you - UNTIL they make it right for you. Good luck

You're saying, the GM person on the phone said that there is no known head problems???? WTF!!!!!
..I would have lost it and called him/her either a damn liar or just plain stupid.

..Maybe if you would have said a "VALVE ISSUE", he would've understood...I hate when these pricks play these stupid fu-king games!!!!

I would never buy a ford. Sorry, I don't know what you mean. I recorded the conversation. She said "No known head issues with the 2006 H3"

I'm sure GM will take care of me. I'm to nice to yell at anyone. I just found it funny when she said no known issues. I didn't say anything when she said that.

You recorded the conversation? LOL Did you inform that you were recording? FYI ..it is illegal to tape record a telephone conversation without consent or knowledge.

I didn't know this. I record almost everything because I have no hearing in my left ear and limited hearing in my right ear. It's only for my use. I went to go listen to the conversation again and the digital recorder cut off before the person answered the phone. GM is the best there is. I am confident they will take care of me anyway.

Now you made me scared. I'm going to contact my lawyer. I too record all conversations. Thank you all for the advice. Take care!

Actually here is some more accurate info with regard to recording telephone conversations. The laws vary from state to state, so if you are recording for legal purposes, it is best to inform or at least check with your state's statutes and or an atty.
"A majority of states and territories have adopted wiretapping statutes
based on federal law. Thirty eight states and the District of Columbia
permit an INDIVIDUAL TO RECORD A CONVERSATION TO WHICH THEY ARE A PARTY
WITHOUT INFORMING THE OTHER PARTY THAT THEY ARE DOING SO. These laws
are referred to as "one-party consent" statutes, and AS LONG AS YOU ARE
A PARTY TO A CONVERSATION, IT IS LEGAL FOR YOU TO RECORD IT."
Twelve states require, under most circumstances, the consent of all
parties to the conversation. These jurisdictions are CA, CT, DE, FL,
IL, MD, MA, MI, MT, NH, PA, WA. These have two party consent laws.

My lawyer already emailed me back. Helps to have family lawyers. email says:
The federal law makes it unlawful to record telephone conversations except in one party consent cases which permit one party consent recording by state law. What that means is a person can record their own telephone conversations without the knowledge or consent of the other party in those states that allow one party consent. Alaska

Right, that would be basically what I just said. If your state is NOT on your list then one party consent is not lawful.

Oops. I do not live in one of those states. However I do own a home in Kentucky is that make a difference. I only record for personal reasons anyway.

It would be the state in which you record the calls from not where u own real estate. It does not matter what the reason one records for. If the other parties find out they are being recorded without their consent, they could possibly bring charges forth if they so desired.

Only one of the parties has to know..Then it's legal

Just an update on the battle of the extended warranty. I never received my letter from the last phone conversation I had with a representative (nearly a month ago) who CALLED ME and gave me the final word of what they were willing to offer me. So, back to the phones I went yesterday.
I just got off the phone with a different representative who apologized and informed me that that other rep didn't know what she was talking about and had no business offering me what she did last month! She also informed me that GM has now changed the parameters completely of what they are willing to offer! (Nevermind the fact that I have been going at this since November AND promised a couple different things!)
I would venture to say that due to the vast amount of head replacement issues that they are now having, and the amount of money they are losing (like H3Head posted) - they are no longer giving the higher extended warranties. They may extend a year or so from your current warranty and maybe an additional 10,000 miles or so!
I of course at this point spoke my mind and said plenty that I won't bother to repeat...long story short..it's still under review (AGAIN)....and I believe that I will be getting screwed along with many others.

Do you want me to ask my litigation attorneys about this? Unfortunately they wouldn't be able to do anything about it (you can figure out why) but I can get some info as to what can be done. This is freakin' rediculous already. Now I'M PISSED for you. Who the hell is running the show over there? They pass the buck like a bunch of chimps swinging from tree to tree.
