I DON'T have a powertrain warranty. I only have a warranty on certain parts of the engine and they are all listed in the letter. Too many to list here.

And I would have been satisfied with this as well, but DO NOT call me on the telephone, tell me you have GREAT NEWS for me!!! Then promise me one thing and then send me something different OR worse tell me oh gee sorry we made a mistake, you aren't getting that...not once but TWICE!

Lawwyfe, if it would be of any help to you, I would be happy to phone GM and rattle their cage a bit regarding your case. If enough forum members were to phone the same specific rep at GM and ask them point blank why they are jerking you around, and let them know how it erodes current GM owners confidence, then maybe you'll get some poistive results!

They listed these parts in a letter? Weird. You should have reveived a Warranty Agreement Document with a letter. The certificate would have your VIN and personal info, validation codes and stored in the database. I don't see how a letter could be valid in proving any kind of warranty. Who is to say you just didn't print one up yourself. Do they have this on record and can confirm it? If so, I wouldn't worry about it. You should feel good you got the main part of your engine covered.
The letter just explains everything and kisses butt little, sorry valued customer... ect. The Hummer customer assistance numbers weren't working out for me. (866) 790-5600 (866) 486-6376 I called a GM Customer Service number. I searched for about a hour for the number for you and can not find. It's around here somewhere. I will post right away when I find or call the dealer, thats where I got it. It's also weird some people get 7 years. It should be 5 years 100,000.

Lil HB thanks for the offer! I don't know what will get me some satisfaction at this point. I am expecting another call this week as they check in with me weekly to tell me they are still working on it lol. (I am sure it will be the same nonsense.) I will wait this out a bit longer as I feel sure they are thinking I will eventually tire and give up...NOT!

Jeep, it is merely a letter with my name and vin # etc. on it as well as what the parameters of the extended warranty are. But it is also on GM stationary with a special "watermark" on it that distinguishes it as valid and real. I already said I would have been satisfied with it - had I not been promised via telephone something more, coupled with the fact that quite a few others here were given much more (a year's extended OnStar, 2 years of oil changes, GMPP which is basically a bumper to bumper ext. warranty, etc etc) - after I received my letter. My argument all along has been that GM should have some consistancy in handling this issue and taken care of those who have had this issue in good faith. Why is it that this is a 2nd go round of you questioning me on what I received?
Jeep

What? What makes you think im questioning you? Yet the 2nd time? Im questioning GM's way of doing things. I'm wondering if someone is yanking your chain, maybe an employee who was quitting I dont know. How is someone to know a "letter" is even going to stand up when they go to use it. Come 60,000 miles and you need it, whats to say the dealer doesnt say theres no record of this, ect. Like you said, theres no consistancy in what GM is doing. Sending out different types of letters, documents, promisses. Your totally off base. Im trying to help, forget it.

I made the statement because early on ( a couple months ago) we went round and round over this lol. And I have been questioned here several times as to whether I really did get a letter and then challenged to post it here to prove I was being truthful. So pardon me if after 5 mos of this BS - if I am a bit sensitive.
Did you get something other than a letter? And you are RIGHT...GM is handling different people in different ways and that is part of my beef! It is a slap in the face from GM to see others post here (which was awhile back) that they got all these extra perks added onto their extended warranties yet others get less. Why is this? I truly don't think most here would lie about that either...why? What would they have to gain? I have been dealing up until recently with a couple people who have been with GM all along (5 mos now) but was recently handed over to someone else because I think she got tired of having to call me weekly and tell me nothing has been resolved and I am still working on it!

I think the number we called was
(313) 556-5000 General Motors That is General Motors but dont think the correct one. Maybe they can help.

Dennis, I will scan and post it as soon as I get a chance. I also plan to call my service guy on Monday and see if something is noted in the computer or if someone is going to take my word for it with a letter even non-computer literate me could have made.
My 7 year/100,000 mile warranty is NOT bumper to bumper but the engine.
LawWyfe, I wonder if you were armed with some VIN #'s and what we received would help your case any?? I have no problem giving you my information as well as a copy of my letter. Let me know!!! :)

Barb, 1st off, thanks for the offer and the support.
I received a call on Fri and supposedly they have finally approved my warranty and are going to put this in writing in an email to me this next week, and once I have that, I am supposed to relinguish my original letter to my service manager at my dealer - then they will mail me the new letter. It is 84 mos/70K miles from date of letter relinquish. We will see what happens in the next couple weeks. As for your letter...this was my experience. I asked my service writer if they had anything on record/computer about this letter and he said NO - that you always keep the letter and show it each time when you go in for service. (That being said, I would NOT leave that letter in your vehicle once you have shown it and then go off and leave the H3 for service!!) Also I had thoughts of just color copying my original letter and returning the color copy as the original LOL..HOWEVER the letter is on GM stationary AND has a special "watermark" seal on it that distinguishes it as real - therefore my idea would not work LOL.

HI there....
I am new to the board but just starting reading all the posts..............WOW !
I have had my H3 in for other reasons...
1- Air Bag trying to activate when 4 wheeling....
2. 4 low sensor went out
3- and now front differentials broke and pierced case in the middle of no where.
I called ONSTAR and they told me I had no towing and had my insurance come out to me 5 hrs later......
come to find out I DID HAVE TOWING under the warranty.............and I shouldn't of had to pay a $300 towing bill. Which I am getting reimbursed for. I am an advid 4 wheeler....and now I feel my vehicle can not be reliable.............that sucks !!!!!!
I have always had a JEEP......and I can tell you they never seen the inside of a service center....
I am not very happy with allthe problems I am having and will be making a callto OH Adrian tomorrow !
Thanks,
Tammy

Try not to get discouraged by postings of problems on the board. Every vehicle type has it's lemons, and the vast majority here have had good luck.
Lawwyfe did have some issues, notably the head issue that affects some known VIN sequences, but once repaired, she was given the runaround on a promised extended warranty. While you may have had some troubles as well, you just need to take them as they come, and enjoy the ride! You've obviously had good luck with the Jeeps, and thats good to hear. Hopefully your Hummer gives you happiness too.

I do love my baby Hummer...........the reason why I did not get another JEEP is for the room it has ........to sleep in the back if I want to go up to the mtns for a quick fix....but I must say.....I have never felt vunerable about 4 wheeling by myself until all the break downs.........Hopefully this is it !!! I have alot of dirt to travel on....LOL.....I do wish the back seats layed down flat.... I am working on some kind of modification that would be sweet !

If you cut a piece of 3/4" plywood to fit the back area, and had about 9 short wooden spacers cut from a 2x4 about 6" long you could make a table type riser using the spacers as "legs" that would make the back level even with the folded seat backs if cut right. The plywood could stay down flat when travelling, and the spacers kept in the rear door with the jack so no space wasted whe not in use. A foamy or rubber roll could make the new "bed" a little softer if needed.

I will keep that in mind.......I was actually thinking of popping out the bar under the back seat part that folds up and take them out completely.....what do you think about that ?

WOW what I've been missing..... LawWyfe you couldn't have spoke your words any better....two pee breaks and a snack trip while reading this one.....just to add to the unhappiness with gm , when I called about my problem , the guy from gm told me to go to my nearest Hummer dealer , I said that is a huge tow bill to get my hummer there and he replied "WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO CREATE ONE".....I was so pissed off .....I can't even say on here what i wanted to do to him.....not very impressed at the way they take our money and then not give us customer service....your not alone...Hope it goes well for all that is in the same situation..................gangstagirl

Thanks Gangstagrl....and sorry about your luck!
Update on the warranty issue...I "appear" to be making headway now. I have received an email from GM (which I insisted on to have something in writing from them) stating what they are willing to give me IF I return my original letter to my Service Manager - which I will do tomorrow. Then supposedly I will receive my new letter and certificate in the mail 6-8 weeks later. (Timeframe seems a bit extensive to me!) Anyway I am posting new GM contact info below.

I am going to attempt to talk to my service guy and see if I can get the extended warranty as well this is the 4th time its been in for all pretty major stuff. I had to have my H3 towed about 100 miles and ONSTAR told me I was not covered (which I was) my insurance came through BUT my service guy is going to have it reimbursed to me.....Exactly what is the terminolgy you call it when asking for your warrenty extenstion?

I don't think your service guy can do you any good beside back you up on your issues..But correct me if I'm wrong, the Extended Warranty deal will have to come from the GM folks downtown.

DITTO to what Dennis just said. The only thing your service manager can do is perhaps offer you some back up support. He has nothing to do with extended warranty nor will he initiate it for you. YOU must take the bull by the horns and contact GM personally and have them open a file on you. My feeling is though that while they may offer you some sort of perk for your inconveniences, they will not offer anyone the extended warranty without head replacement - since this is an issue that has been so widespread. (They could prove me wrong tho) No lemon law takes effect here because the law states that it must be the SAME issue, and repair attempts must take place on 3 different occasions for the SAME issue before that kicks in. Good luck and sorry about your misfortune.

Welp...turned in my original component letter to my service manager yesterday (made sure he gave me something in writing and signed that I relinguished it to him)...now we will see if GM makes good on their promise to take care of me (new letter containing what I was promised.)
If not...then I will ring up my attorney who has copies of all correspondence and tell him to proceed ahead, now that I have complied with GM's requests.
