Well, you'll be happy to know also that the Knight Rider lights have been ordered, and will be on the truck in time for the show...... I know how much you LOVE those
Thanks for checking up though. I will be sure to post plenty of pics. I will be creating a new web site for our hummer club, so hopefully I can get it up and going before the show.

Long commute and tough work....a likely story. You just got a Wii didn't you. We see how it is...your beloved internet is no match for virtual bowling...

Dude that virtual bowling is weak. Actually, I'm dissappointed at the game selection. The ones that ARE out though are pretty good. Red Steel is a great game. I won't get into that here though.

Hello,
I have a 2002 Toyota Tundra, and I have been flirting with the thought of trading it in for the H3. HOWEVER, I must say that the reports of various other problems (besides the head/valve topic) such as those found on that Dept. of Transporation website (thanx to the link posted by "cnyncntry"sp?) is quite a turn-off, expecially when complaints are beginning from: "a few weeks old" to "under 10,000 miles."
My truck has been involved in a pretty bad accident. The entire front axle was replaced and the frame itself was bent back into alignment. It was a good $7500 worth of bodyshop/collision-center work. The truck was running beautifully before, but now it's "only" running great because the steering wheel alignment is minutely off (vehicle pulls right, without my my left-handed thumb-and-index finger steering on the "7:40" clock position. No Big Deal considering I know what its been through.
I am such a superficial person, the H3's aesthetic, alone, has caught my attention So much so, that I decided to create a user name tonight, and ask if current Hummer owners see their vehicle lasting at least 15 years, and say 100,000 miles of problem-free driving?
Question is also posed to current owners of American-brand vehicles, in general.
Apparently, Toyotas and some other Japanese-brand vehicles tend to run "problem-free" beyond 20 years and over 200,000 miles (ancient 1973 models or anything prior to 1980's, excluded).
It seems my accident-historied Tundra with its $10K difference is a better bet than going for a brand new H3?

every vehicle, I don't care what make or model will have it's problems....Japanese made cars have service centers too, and they are just as busy as any GM,ford,Dodge dealer. And yes, I see every 2007 hummer h3 on the road lasting 100,000 miles at least...there is a 100,000 mile warrenty. The main problem and the only realy problem has been the head/valve issue, but NO 2007's WILL HAVE THIS PROBLEM!! It's only for a group of 06's that fall within a specific VIN range. I don't see how anyone would think a Tundra is a better bet than an H3...but then again I wouldn't be caught dead in a jap truck anyway, better looks, more ground clearance, run 35's stock, will run circles around any jap truck made off-road, I'd go with the H3 any day of the week

ImportKiller is right. I have one of the original '06. I bought one right after they came out. Unfortunately, my VIN number is one of those that "might" have the problem. I have almost 30k miles on my car and its about 16 months old. I have yet to have one single engine problem. I drive 100 miles a day, and have had 0 engine problems, even after having my PCM reprogrammed. I have had other smaller minor problems here and there, but stupid little things that are insignificant (well, minus the mystery differential problem that nobody seems to be able to fix, but it's only on the 5 speed). Like other's have said on here, it affects such a small percentage of H3 owners, and besides, the '07 has the larger engine, a DIFFERENT engine, so IF you bought a new one now and get the '07, you have nothing to worry about. Don't let the paranoia stop you! DO IT DO IT DO IT DO IT

First of all, let me say that I pity the poor person that ends up with your wrecked Toyota truck when you trade it in or sell it outright, because chances are they will not know of it's history...UNLESS they pull a Carfax, etc.. (And this does not always show an accurate history I have been told) 2nd of all, I have owned a conglomeration of cars over the years from a Pontiac Firebird (2), Honda, Toyota, Mazda, Jeep (3), Chevy Corvette, Lexus and now the H3 as well. Some of the Japanese makes did have better reliability/performance. However, as with ANY product, if you poll the people...you will find pros & cons and lovers & haters of anything. I did not purchase my H3 with the intent of driving it for 15 years or 150,000 miles. I tend to keep my vehicles approximately 5 years or so, so this is not an issue for me. Besides, how would one know the performance and reliability of a new production vehicle anyway? I purchased my H3 because the urge to own one grabbed me far more than any other vehicle that I have ever owned (OK maybe with exception to the vette). With this said, and in light of the few issues I have encountered thus far, I would not change my decision to purchase my H3 for anything, and I would still urge others to purchase the H3!!! (Although selfishly, my thoughts are that the fewer H3's that are purchased - continues to make we H3 owners more unique) The thrill that I get from owning and driving my little Hummer far outweighs the inconveniences suffered at this point. And one last comment...while the head issue is a major one and has effected many - there are many many more H3 owners out there who have not (nor will they) encounter these issues! I feel that once I get the "bugs" worked out with mine, I will continue to drive it happily and lovingly for some time to come.

Actually, my "flirting" with the thought of owning an H3, was slowing heading towards an "obsession"! of a thought... until reviewing the contents and links within these forums. I felt a dramatic change of heart, and then the ensuing posts following mine, probably saved me from being completely turned-off. The point of settling for the "banged-up" Tundra instead of a brand, spankin new H3 was that, after all it's been through, there hasn't been a single problem (such as "check engine" light) since day 1 until today (76K miles). Meanwhile, IT SEEMED (from my relative perception), that H3 owners have been experiencing a variety of problems just a few weeks & months, after purchase. Obviously, such stories certainly raise a doubt when considering the purchase of a VEHICLE.
And, when it comes to purchasing USED vehicles, who wouldn't check it's history??? I dont think Lawwyfe has to waste her energy and thought offering pity and sympathy, with no one sitting around on the receiving end.
Also, what's a troll??
Thanks for all your responses, and feel free to ban me for your closed-minded policies.

Awwwwwwwww my feelings are just so hurt now....(Not really! I am not as thin skinned as you seem to be)
Cmon now, you had to realize that in coming onto a forum of obvious H3 lovers as a newcomer and coming across in a disrespecting and somewhat smartass (for lack of a better word) manner was going to net you some less than positive return responses. We happen to realize that we have a unique vehicle and feel the minor inconveniences are worth it, however aggravating they may be.
And my point was that not everyone who purchases a used vehicle has the moxy and the wherewithall to pull a Carfax, as well as the fact that not every Carfax always shows accurate history! I personally know someone who did run a Carfax on a vehicle he intended to purchase and it did not indicate any history of wreckage! The original owner obviously fixed the damage himself or had a bodyshop he knew do it and they did not properly note such damage.
Obviously the H3 isn't for you....Good luck to you in whatever you choose to do vehiclewise and may you never suffer any repair inconveniences with them!

I agree law wifey!!! Shunky, if you were sincere in your original post you would not have added teh last line about your Turdra bieng better than a new H3....that is a dumb way to end your first post on a HUMMER forum. Yes the hummer h3 is better than your Tundra....yes the Hummer h3 will kick the **** out of your Tundra in looks, originality,off-road dominance, and interior design and comfort...what moer could you want?!?! Are you foolish enough to actually believe that Jap crap trucks are better than Amewrcan made and will never break down? You do realize that there are over 18 TSB's and one recall out for the 2006 Toyota Tundra...right? How is that possible...toyotas never break down....LMAO.

In defense of Toyota..I read an artical this past fall about the CEO of Toyota shutting down production on several of their models, because of reliability issues and QC...Come to think of it, I haven't seen many Toyota car commercials lately either.

Good to meet everyone. First night on the form. How do I view the Vin Number range for the engine problem. I have a 2006 H3, 6500 miles, only problem was the stabilizer fix.
