The sad part is, even if he was caught, nothing would happen. Theft from a motor vehicle if your lucky. Maybe a burglary charge initially but you know how that goes. DOWNGRADE, PLEA DEAL. In the lovely state of NJ, if he didnt kill someone while doing the burglary, not much would happen to him. On the other hand , if you caught and assaulted the "lovely gentleman", or worse, you could bet your sweet ass ,you would be doing time.

Here you can steal a car and if it's your first time (that you are caught) stealing a car you get a warning, night in jail, and a fine.

Our laws are so screwed.

well,i am truly sorry,i once had the sme thing happen, not to my hummer, but my brand new 03 silverado 2 days old,so now i dont even lock my doors half the time, unless i am at the store,my vehicles are usually pretty close to my 2 rotweillers,so i really dont fear a whole lot.there is nothing in m,y vehicles anyway, but at least if they want in,i wont have to pay for a new door

Gunner, that was funny dude.  LMAO   Glad to see some humor interjected in this crappy experience.  Maybe hilljob has an idea, buy a rotweiller for the property manager   to be kept exclusively on site.  All the residents can take turns walking the dog!!!

damn Mark, bummer...major bummer. Really sorry bro. Inhuman bastards.

Well, not much to say to make you feel any better but I bet when we're out at Barnwell on the 29th you won't be thinkin too much about it.

Well the truck went to paint yesterday. They shot some color over the window frame area of the door, then
shot new clear all over the whole thing. Last I heard, they were waiting on parts. Since they are going all OEM,
who knows how long that will really be. They said next week....But we will see. As long as they do it right, I don't care.

I asked my rep there at the shop about cure times on the paint, being that I had several OR trips planned this month and next.
To my horror, he said the paint would need 30 to 60 days of cure time before I could test it on the trail. I was told to
be especially wary of mud.........   Well **** me running through a rolling donut hole ! ! ! ! !

At this point, I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I have the shop guy covering his ass with the 30/60 thing on one hand, but then
I have some other fairly knowledgeable folks telling me it will be as good as it's going to get the day I drive home. I sure as hell
don;t want to have to get the damn thing done a second time. I asked about the use of contact paper/vinyl or magnetic shields
and the shop guy says he would NOT recommend it...... Well **** me running down an airstrip and fly a plane up my ass ! ! ! !

The Sewell event is 12 days out from the new paint and Barnwell trip is 22 out.......

I guess I'll just have to wait till I get closer to game day and then make a decision. (and gather more information in general).

Oh.....just to add insult to injury, during this time period I have also lost my wedding ring, had some ass clown ding the rental
and to top it all off, had a grackle (bird) **** on my head. Had it not been for me getting so damn tickled at my wife trying
so damn hard not to laugh at me getting **** on........I would have lost it right then and there........All I could do was sit down
on the curb and let her clean me up with one of those stupid handi-wipes she always seems to produce from thin air
and smile...........

Dawg, it be happinen!  uugh, mmmmmmm.  I like Buicks?  At least I did back in the 70's?  Deep breath..................hold it..................exhale.   That paint crap is a bunch o .........crap.  Sure your finish is tender, don't mean ya got to sit home on the couch.  If some sheet happens to happen, have them do it again!!!  It isn't yer fault that the repair is fresh on a pre-planned recreational/vacation event.  All part of the same claim.

I spoke to the GM over there about our event/your truck -- he said if its going to scratch, it'll scratch -- they only suggest you don't wax it for that time period.  I think as long as you don't keep the mud on there for a week, you'd be fine.  Even if mud did do something to the clearcoat/finish -- it seems that very top layer could be buffed relatively easily.  I'm no expert in paint, but the GM said he wouldn't worry about our event and was going to push it though so you wouldn't be without a truck come gameday.  We're going down sunday night/monday to scope out some trails - should be fun!

Woo Hoo.......................! ! ! ! !

I appreciate it Brian.... That does make me feel a bit better........Patrick had me pretty worried I have to admit.
All day long I've been staring at that "30/60" I wrote on my note pad when talking to him earlier and just cringed.........
Things are looking up! (No bird jokes here, please)

I figured worse case, since I already had the digs down in College Station, I'd at least trek down with you guys and socialize for the weekend.

Which reminds me: Rikki Ehlert, Special Events Coordinator, Sewell Automotive Companies ROCKS!
When I called the Marriott to secure accommodations, they said that the entire block of rooms for the Sewell event were booked. Actually, they said the entire facility was booked solid. I called Rikki for an alternative solution.....She said give her five....then called me back with a confirmation number for that weekend. Evidently, Rikki doesn't play.......

I wasn't sure what I was gonna do about Barnwell....Hell I'd have driven down, parked the truck and just spotted if I had to.

Again, thanks Brian.......

Enjoy your pre-run.....

Sorry to see that! And I know how you feel as my Camaro, when I lived in NYC, was broken into so many times I stopped locking the doors. I could not afford time off from work to keep getting the window fixed plus after the 3th time my insurance was going to drop me for any more claims.
I finally caught 3 guys breaking into my car and some neighbor's car in my underground parking garage late one night. They attempted to come at me with what turned out to be sharpened screw drivers.Dealt with that.
They stopped for a while then started with the break-ins again. For some reason they never touched my car again. Either they knew it had a silent pager alarm or they did not like ....
