This could be a similar issue as BMW's have with the display pixelation. It might be a simple computer issue that can be resolved with a reset. I had a similar issue to yours with an E39 5 series. The link below has a picture of one of the many different gremlins, while not the same as yours, or even what i had, the root problem is usually a dirty connection or a computer issue (which was mine).
