DIC

Before I make a call to service.
Is it normal for the DIC to be a jumbled mess when you first start the H3? It is a bit chilly here in MN and every morning when I start the truck the DIC is a jumbled mess. Takes a good 10 minutes for the H3 to warm up and it seems that as the vehicle warms up the DIC becomes more readable.

Doesn't sound right Chief. It kind of "jumbles" when you first start, but that only lasts long enough for everything to test and cycle through. Should be fine in a matter of seconds.

It's in the teens here in Ohio and I'm not experiencing that problem.

Doesn't sound normal, mine comes right on after a few seconds and we have been in the single digits for a couple of days in the morning.

Yeah, I would get a dealer to check that out. I live in Houston so I don't get cold weather, but that can not be normal.

That's not right Chief, The first pic is right but that should be gone within about 5 seconds or so. It's just running it's "systems check" then goes to normal. Like D Vader said, it's been pretty cold here in Ohio. Probably not as bad as it is there in MN but it has been in the single digits the last couple of days. Never did that. Cold shouldn't effect like that.

it looks like the backlight is taking longer to dim or sumptin.

Just went in the garage to check on the wife's. The digits may be LED, but it is definetly back lit. Unless that's just the "glow" from the LED's maybe.

The funny thing to me is... none of us have seen it... and may never see it... yet it happened to him.. under warranty... so the worries are less... but yet 2 years from now we will all be telling the noobs to use the search about this very same thing...
I love the internet...

It's almost like there is pressure on the LED screen that is making contact with the display, and after the interior warms it expands and takes the pressure off. There is a piece of plastic in the way that prevents me from pushing on the display to see if I can reproduce the error once the interior warms.

An update, Took it into the service department today. Service Writer says "Yep, we are aware of the issue, there is a TSB listed for it" and ordered a new DIC. It's in the shop overnight waiting for the part. I'll look at the paperwork tomorrow and see if the TSB number is listed.
