If I was a sensible guy, I would probably buy a Toyota RAV4 and be done with it. Low maintenance, great drive, practical, high resale, boring looks, nobody cares.. what else could you ask for? :)

But no - I love the H3! It's a toy truck with some practicality, so why not?

I'm glad that you found the H3 to be nice to drive because it is! I was pleasantly surprised too.... what was originally a 'sunday test drive/tire kicking' became a lease!!

My 08' H3 Alpha has heated leather seats, sun roof, 6 CD changer, all the bells & whistles I need and to answer your question, the gas cap covers come in chrome & black.

I looked at a Trailblazer today just for kicks & giggles while my custom exhaust was being installed on my Alpha (Chevy dealer was across the street). It is indeed a very nice vehicle BUT it’s just another SUV. It’s a grocery getter as far as I’m concerned. As nice as it is there’s nothing special about it, it looks like all the other SUV’s out there. Not that I’m an expert but I’ve never seen a Trailblazer off road.

The H3 on the other hand is rugged looking, off-road capable BUT sophisticated enough that you can take your wife or girl out to the theater/dinner in.

Before I bought my Alpha I looked at them all, the Trailblazer, Avalanche, Envoy, Yukon even the GMC Acadia. But I knew they were all “girly man trucks”.

Alphadogg; I am with you on this one.  The TB/Envoy are nice On Road station wagons, that can get off the pavement a bit, like to a favorite fishin hole, picinic spot etc.  If that is what you want, a station wagon looking a like a truck, good deal.

I wanted a real truck, capable to do it all, any where, in any weather.  I am enjoying my 07 Adventure, more than I expected actually.  When it's cleaned up, it looks right at home in town, and I know what it can do out of town.

I went through the same process when I was in the market.  H3, SSTB or Jeep SRT8.  The Jeep was really cool!! But the SRT8 is really to pricey IMO.  The SSTB  looks like all the millions of TB out there on the highway.  The looks was the deciding factor in my choice.

Thanks - that black fuel door option, is that metal or hard plastic?

I bought a 2005 TrailBlazer when they had the GM employee price thingy going on, & I thought it was a big POS! It was at the chevy dealer like 20 times in 1 1/2 years. If i could do it over again i would have traded my Grand Cherokee Overland for the H3 & NEVER got the Trail Blazer!
It was slow, cheaply made, really bad steering feedback , but i did have the EXT version so the short one might be better!!!!

the jeep srt8 might be my favorite vehicle on the road today, i just had an srt10 that i traded in on the hummer and have had the experience of getting the srt8 jeep as a loaner car and wow does that thing launch!!!!!!..........its not an offroad vehicle in any sense, its a suv race car....would be a nice complimentary vehicle to the hummer

I own a 2006 Trailblazer and a 2007 H3.  Both are good vehicles.  You will not be disappointed in either. Personally, I love the H3.  In the current market, you can get a tremendous deal for a used low mileage 2007 or 2008 H3. I paid recently $25,000 for the used 2007 H3 with less than 15,000 miles.

So what is the verdict?

haven't decided yet - this week. Price will be a factor. TB with very similar sticker price, just has so many more options (sunroof, 6-CD, power seats, etc.). Is it inappropriate to ask here what a reasonable payment per month (39 month lease, nothing down) would be? The vehicle is a pretty basic one - not bottom of the line (automatic transmission) but with relatively no luxury options.

Not at all. Lots of people are leasing. I have never leased but see ads for $299.99 per month. Not sure what the details are. people will chime in and let you know.

Thank you. I would hope that $299 a month is with that 3K down at lease signing, cause I was quoted a payment $100/month higher! - (with nothing down at signing)

I put NOTHING down...got a base h3 (early 06..prices were still jacked up back then) got chrome appearance package..aut and side nerf bars...I pay $419 a month on a 39 month lease. Next time I will finance but I didn't want to get stuck with a first year truck that would have bugs to work out...glad I did it that way

IMO there should be no debate over the two....if your looking for a practical drive the family around SUV then get the trailblazer...more comfy, more power, more features. If you want an suv that performs off road like every other SUV can only dream of and get looks and stares like no TB EVER will...then get the hummer.  That's the choice in teh end...do you want to stand out...or blend in with the crowd?

If you're just wanting to be a sidewalk commando then get the Chevy.

If you're wanting to go off road, the Chevy just ain't gonna cut it, get the H3.

Don't know if I follow:

What's a "Best cmpromise SUV" ?

no other SUV available offers such a high quality on road ride/comfort and such off road capability...thus making it a compromise SUV.

and if your post was just to make fun of my typo....then bite me

No not at all lol - I thought you meant to call it a "compromise" vehicle but I wasn't entirely sure what you meant. Thanks for the clarification. This sure is a tough decision! Any input on how much better the 6 cd changer radio system is compared to the single? What about issues with the sunroof - are there any. Thanks again for listening to these questions and your help.

It's gonna come with XM... do you really care about CD's?

Seriously?
