I have had this probelm 4 times going on 5, I still have to pick up my car from dealer.  The first time it was making air noise through the windshield, then it was water leaking into the car from windshield.  If anyone has had this problem let me know, Im trying for the lemon law but gm corp is not helping me out.  Looking for a good lawyer.

I have had the same problem, however no water leak. As far as the noise it coming from the vertical black rubber molding that is on each side of the windshield. To stop the noise I wedged small pieces of flat rubber between the molding and the windshield and trimed it so that it cannot be seen. The delaership may now have a better solution, however this was cheaper (free).
You may have more of a problem if its leaking water, but I would try this and see if the noise stops.

Good luck,

Rick

About the only noise we had experienced with our H2 was a rattling noise when the sunroof air deflector came into contact with the overhead lightbar. This was simply alleviated by adding some 3M automotive tape between the deflector and the lightbar; thus, simply securing them together.

leaks are a bitch to fix around the windshield.  the molding is really tight against the body, and getting sealant in there is tough.  i found mine by spraying soapy water behind the molding on top, pulled the headliner down inside and used a compressor at about 40lbs to blow air against the seal from inside.  where the bubbles start forming is where your leak is.  you've got to clean the area really well to get the sealant to adhere, took me about 4 tries, but i finally sealed the leak.  and, it may not be your windshield leaking.  the marker lights on the roof could be leaking, or it could be a clogged drain hose for the sunroof.  the wind noise is easily remedied with double sided tape on the 2 a-arm outer moldings.

good luck with the lemon law idea, not sure a leaking windshield is what the law was meant to cover, but lawyers can twist anything to suit their needs, as long as it puts money in their pockets.

Just got mine back from the dealer after having taken it in for a horrible loud clatter when you hit any speed over about 70 mph.  Turns out the same type problem that was described earlier air flowing between the windshield and the side moldings.  My dealer pulled the side moldings off and added additional insulation between the molding and the windshield.  Seems to have cleared the miserable noise up with no problem.

As far as leaking, I am not sure where yours is coming from but I understand the front cab lights come out very easy and are notorious for letting water in.  This water can run along the windshield and/or headliner and come out dripping on the dash.

Just something to check.

Good luck w/ everything.  - T

car has been in shop for over 10 days now still waiting to see what corp and dealer decide on doing.  I was supposed to pick it up but when they tested it for water leak it happened again, everyone is now baffled ( )so I guess I just have to wait and see.  At least they gave me a h2 loaner, not as nice as my own of course, but it will do for now.

First off, Weclome to our forum.  Secondly, you have my wife's name, so if I have some kind of mental sidetrack and call you baby, honey, sweety, sexy, etc., please forgive me

Secondly, that is rediculous.  A Hummer dealer that can't fix a leak?  That's rediculous.  Where area do you live around?

I have lived here in Chicago my entire life.  I would assume since you live in Miami they would know how to fix a leaky windshield, or leaky ANYTHING for that matter  That's like me saying I don't know how to shovel snow.

Jackie,

I recently purchased a new H2 in the Miami area and intially had issues with what I thought was the windshield. No leaking, but a couple of vibration sounds. They are now resolved.

Leaking is a serious issue but should not take that long to repair. Something isn't right if you've had to wait 10 days.

What dealership are you dealing with?

In central Jersey the dealer has a water leak guy they bring in.  So for leaking problems, you have to schedule an appointment well in advance.  Otherwise, they could keep the vehicle for weeks until the Leak Man can make it.

I also have a leak in the front.  Water comes out of the driver's side grab handle when I wash it or it rains.  I thought it might be a marker lamp, or maybe the sun roof, but it still leaks after several attempts to fix it.  Typical.

my leak came out the pass. side grab handle, but that's because it was running along the headliner, which is molded down into the molding along the pillar.  simple way to find the leak is to pull the headliner loose and use some compressed air to blow on the seal.  spray soapy solution behind the outer windshield molding and watch to see where bubbles form, that's your leak.  to pull the headliner loose, you'll need to remove the grab handle, the two square inserts pull straight out, grab handle comes out, that's the only thing holding the pillar molding on.  then put a small screwdriver into the tiny cutout on the visor pivot mount, push up the elbow for the visor and turn, while the screwdriver is there.  that releases the tab and allows the elbow mount to come loose for the visor.  then your headliner will be loose to the center console on the roof for the map lights.  there are 2 screws holding that up, you can remove them, push the upper console box forward, there are 2 clips that hold it to the headliner.  once that's loose, your headliner can come down a bit further.  this will give you access to the inner seal of your windshield and allow you to get a compressed air source in to test the seal.  sealing it on the outside is tough, since you'll need to clean it really well and the outer molding is pretty tough to get under, but it can be done.  4th time worked for me, better than taking it to the dealership.

Well I just got my hummer back yesterday  I cant belive my eyes its really here !!!! only after 11 days in the dealer.  To solve the problem I had the dealer install an tiny barbie umbrella over the area to keep it from leaking water into my car.  Seriously  I am very happy to have it back, but I still would like some really good insurance from the dealer so I dont have to worry about his happening again.

11 DAYS?????????
Jackie
1/20/2007 10:46:17 PM
Yes sir, 11 days.  it took that long because they couldnt get the problem repaired.  On the 4th day they called me and told me it would be ready later that day but I never got a call back, 10 days later we were told it was still being repaired because when they tested it there was another water leak.  That would have technically made it 5 times in the dealer for the same thing all within my first month and 1/2 of owning it.
