Today my ACA HID upgrade kit for the wife's Corvette arrived, as promised, beautifully packaged and completely intact.  Man, are these things gorgeous - headlight artwork, if there is such a thing.  Reminds me of my 300ZX lighting system.  The headlamp housing assemblies are of excellent quality and feel very solid.  The kit comes complete with all harnesses, ballasts and even wire ties and screws.  It also comes with Corvette Garage's own installation booklet and the OEM manual as well.  It is pricey but definitely worth the quality and performance.  I've seen lots of comparisons of these to the stock setup and there is no comparison.

This HID kit is meant for Mrs. Patches' '02 Corvette (bought it last May) since her's is her daily driver and she frequently drives at night.  I could just not allow her to continue driving at night with the lousy stock setup.  This is the first round of gifts to her for our 10th anniversary this week.  I'll be doing the install this weekend and, of course, I'll post some pics of the results.

In the meantime, here are a few pics of the components.

I would love to have a set on my Corvette as well but that will have to wait for a few months until I can swing another kit and the time to install it.  Not really a big deal as I hardly ever drive mine at night.  The H3 is my workaday warrior and I may treat it to a set of HIDs as well since I generally drive to and from work in the dark.  The Hummer headlights are marginally better than the Vette's stock setup so it could use an upgrade as well.

Here's the Missus with her pride and joy.

Are they hard to install? Was thinking about getting them for the 3's.

Not difficult to install at all although the guys on the Corvette forum who have installed them have identified a necessary added step (and the vendor instructions do as well) to prevent bulb "jiggle".  They recommend adding a rubber spacer behind the HID bulb to stabilize it and this seems to work well.  Other than that it's probably a couple of hours for the installation and is pretty straightforward with the included instructions.  Now, this is for the vette so I can't speak for the H3 installation although I can't see that being any more difficult.

I suspected as much when I noticed the HID projector housing looks identical to my vette's.
