Great forum...  new to it.  Just wondering if anyone has specific recommendations for after market stereo (in dash DVD preferred) for 2007 H3?  I have read all of the threads about adding the Ipod interface, etc --- but I am really interested in getting rid of the factory stereo,...and having a new indash DVD (or similar) system installed.  I noticed that Crutchfield is somewhat neutral when in comes to H3's.....  Any thoughts?

any aftermarket unit will be an upgrade to the factory, just make sure you get teh correct adapters for your onstar and other harnesses. Go to logjam.com to get everything you need.

As far as what unit I would recommend...you can never go wrong with an eclipse...they aren't considered top O' the line by DBdrag builders for nothing. I always liked alpine units and that new alpine dvd, touch screen navi is simple awesome!!! it'll set ya back a good amount of bucks but IMO its the best nav. dvd unit on the market.

I have the Eclipse AVN 6600 in mine, great iPod interface fairly simple to use and has dual DVD slots (one for the map disc) with a 6.5 inch touch screen. Not that I would condone this kind of thing but if you want to be able to watch DVD's while the car is moving or input navigation information, you will have to make sure the ground is not connected to the emergency brake.

That's sweet.  Now I want one!  Just don't tell me what it costs.

the price was fairly reasonable even though the shop I purchased at was originally trying to charge me an arm and leg. Just to give you a rough estimate I got the Head Unit with the iPod adapter, OnStar harness, whatever that other cable is called, 800 watt amp and 10 inch sub installed for $2,500 so if you do decide to get it or something similar it shouldn't be too painful.

Can't go wrong with Eclipse!!! I've had my AVN2454 for a couple of years now and it's still AWESOME!! I keep hoping it F%&KS up so I can upgrade to the AVN6610. I don't REALLY NEED IT as I don't use satallite radio or an IPod, but it's NEWER and has a 7" screen!!!

Thanks for the link!!  I was wondering tho, why would I need to modify the factory harness??  It said something about splicing a red wire into the purple wires?

I personaly bought a Kenwood DNX7100 for my H3 and it looks awesome but only problem is that the factory wire harness that fit into the stock radio doesnt fit in the Kenwood radio at all... I dont really want to snip wires, but if I must does anyone know which wires connect to which??

Yeah..  DON'T hack the wiring harness up.. It's not worth it... Get a harness adapter, the time and frustration you'll save trying to splice wires from the adapter to the radio harness on a work bench rather than getting your hands up inside the dash is more than worth it.   If you're wanting to keep the OnStar and Chimes, those interface boxes have the adapter plugs you need.  If you don't care about he OnStar and chimes you can get a basic wire harness adapter from about $15 - $20.
