It'll never be cleaner than it is today since we're approaching our first winter and this is my daily driver.  Also, hope to be wheelin' this spring and we know where that leads.

Anyway, I feel much better now that I have the first layers of Zaino and chrome polish on her.  Didn't want to go into the snow season without some protection on it to help weather the cold and wet.  I've had her two weeks now and figured it was time to apply a good dose of TLC.

Since it was raining/overcast all day, I spent the afternoon Zainoing the H3 and polishing all the chrome.  That is one bigazz vehicle to clean and polish even if it is the smallest Hummer.

Notice in these pics - no swirl marks in the paint.  None.  I wouldn't let the dealer prep the car when they delivered it because the techs always use harsh, dirty rags and water to wash the vehicles and swirl the crap out of the paint.  The Hummer was filthy when I picked it up and the dealer wasn't happy having to deliver it like that but I promised I'd give them a stellar rating on the delivery survey and I did.  But look how nice the paint is after I washed and polished it properly.

Only had time for two.  Zaino is normally pretty easy to apply but it is especially easy on a fresh, clean, new coat of paint.

Thanks, guys.

Awesome...looks great...It does take alot of time detailing and polishing..so I was thinking about having someone do it for me and checked around and the lowest price I got was $110.00.

Zaino is pretty slick - literally.  Not much will stick well to it and it's amazing how smooth it is to the touch.  Here are my two vettes with Zaino applied.  I haven't washed the red one in three or more years (bought new and just turned 6)- just the occassional detailing spray after a romp on the backroads or highway. Bought the black one used in April with 6700 miles on it.

Did you clay bar it?  My H3 has lots of orange peel?

No clay bar, but that won't help orange peel anyway. OP are the dimples you see in the surface of the paint where the paint has cured with a textured look due to not laying out flat.  The higher solvent content you can have in paint, the flatter you can get it to lay and the less OP effect you'll have.  The US has stringent environmental laws limiting how much solvent paints can have so American cars tend to have more OP than Euro or Japanese cars painted in their respective countries.  Paint companies have been working on alternatives such as water-based paints to try and reduce OP.

If you're willing to risk it like some have, you can minimize the OP in your paint by having a pro wet-sand your finish and re-polish it.  This is risky becuase manufacturers generally only put a very thin layer of clear coat on and it's easy to break through it.  Others have simply recleared the car with a thicker coat and then wet-sanded and polished it to a mirror finish.  I've seen factory paint jobs refinished this way and it's truly a religious experience to witness the results.

SOLD! I just went on line and ordered it. It was likt $100 for the whole kit and S/H but with a black H3 I find myself washing it 2x a week, so anything that can help will be worth it!
